Standing Firm

The sun rises on a new day. I give thanks to the Lord and reflect on the activities that await me, the people I will meet.
In church today, we pray with the words of the Apostle Paul to the Thessalonians: ‘Brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions we taught you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.’ (2 Thess 2:14–17) I ask for the grace to stand firm today, through prayer, listening to others, with a gentle gaze.

I take the time to offer my day to the Lord; I offer Him my words, the way I listen, and the way I look at others. May He unite my heart to His loving Heart so that it may be transformed.

I pray the prayer of offering together with all the members of the Global Prayer Network who help me to “stand firm.”

Come and see

Here we are again at the start of a new week—a week of work for some, a week of vacation for others. And Christ draws near to each of us in our particular circumstances. I welcome Him into my life.

This morning we follow Philip in the Gospel of John; he has encountered Christ and wants to introduce him to others: “He went to find Nathanael and said to him, ‘We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.’ Nathanael said to him, ‘Can anything good come out of Nazareth?’ Philip replied, ‘Come and see.’” (Jn 1:45–51)

I ask for Philip’s bold and inspiring faith. Lord, I offer you my day and pray for this month’s intention.

Who do you say that I am?

On this Sunday, I join all Christians who gather to celebrate the risen Christ. We form a great chain of prayer throughout the world. Together with them, I receive the Word offered to us today: “Jesus asked them, ‘And who do you say that I am?’ Then Simon Peter spoke up and said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’” (Mt 16:13–20)

Jesus asks me this question as well: “Who do you say that I am?” I take the time to reflect on how I want to answer him. I place myself at his disposal to carry out the mission with him.

I pray for the intention that Pope Leo has entrusted to us this month—for the evangelization of cities—and I say the prayer of offering with love and surrender.

August 22 | Feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary 👑
Today, we honor Mary as our Queen and Mother, chosen by God for her unique role in the work of our salvation. Hail, Holy Queen! May the Queen of Heaven guide us ever closer to her Son, Jesus Christ.

Behold the handmaid of the Lord

Thank you, Lord, for this new day to love and admire. Today we commemorate the Blessed Virgin Mary, and I give thanks for her willingness: “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.” (Lk 1:26–38) I pause in silence to welcome these words and let them take root within me.
I choose to spend this day with Mary and ask her to place in my heart the desire to be open to the Lord’s mission, just as she herself was. In communion with her and with my brothers and sisters in the Prayer Network, I offer my day, my joys and my sorrows, my plans and my encounters, keeping this month’s intention in mind.

Hail Mary.
