YCW Mumbai

YCW Mumbai Young Christian Workers Bombay The Y.C.W. These situations still exist today and this Movement still has a meaning.

was started by Cardinal Cardijn in 1912 as a response of young workers to the exploitation they were subjected to, with the advance of technology and industry. We seek our inspiration from CHRIST - the greatest revolutionary of all times - a man of the people, who was moved to pity by their tears and moved to anger by the injustice and corruption that exploit them - a man who preached the revolutionary doctrine of LOVE.

Rev Father John Almeida
Spiritual Director
Young Christian Workers Movement – Archdiocese of Bombay
Mumbai.
Dear Father John,
Greetings from the Catenians Bandra Brothers!
The Catenian Association is a global network of Catholic friends, united by their shared values and
faith. The Association was founded in Great Britain in 1908 at the instigation of Bishop Charles
Louis Casartelli and has the support of the hierarchy of the Catholic Church. The purpose of the
Association can be summed up by ‘Friendship, Faith, Family and Fun’. It is through friendship that
Catenians strengthen their faith and family life. The Catenians Bandra Brothers (Circle 371) was
inaugurated by His Eminence Bishop Percival J Fernandez in the presence of Catenian Grand
President, Brother Peter Woodford, on November 17th, 2015 at Mt Carmel Church, Bandra.
Currently we have thirteen Circles in India, three Circles and a Group in Mumbai and are
expanding. We are recognized by the Archdiocese of Mumbai, His Lordship Bishop Barthol Baretto
being our mentor assisted by Fr Micheal Goveas, his emissary.
As Catenians we strive to help one another to achieve happiness and prosperity and also in time of
need. The Association supports Catholic youth through its projects. One such project is
Encouraging Entrepreneurship among Catholic youth envisaged by the Bandra Brothers. This is
the second year in succession we will be conducting the program. It will be held in Mt Carmel
Church Hall, Bandra, on Sunday, May 5, 2019 between 10:45am and 1pm.
We have among us stalwarts in the field who have offered to render their expertise free of cost to
Catholic youth across Mumbai and beyond.
We would appreciate if you help us coordinate with the Archdiocesan Young Christian Workers
Movement to help us boost attendance at the program. Any additional inputs to enhance the value
of our efforts from you, the organisation or anyone associated are most welcome.
This program will be a regular initiative on our part to help our Catholic youth. Your help and
support will go a long way in making our effort a success.
Thank you.
With warm regards,

Reading current happenings where work place is becoming gradually unsafe (it was probably always unsafe to an extent) - I suppose we need to reflect on this and see how we can help young persons to take on the perpetrator of crime at place of work.
