BOM/508/1987 GBBSD and having its Registered Office and Temples at Nairwadi, Ayyappa Mandir Marg, Sakinaka, Mumbai - 400 072. The Sangham came into existence way back in th
e year 1969 under the name and style of AALPANAKAVU DURGA DEVI TEMPLE. It was started by few devotees, who had constructed a small temple of "GODDESS DURGA DEVI" and thereafter number of devotees increased considerably day-by-day. The land measuring about 500 sq. yards donated by the Honorable Landlord Seth Shri Chitaranjan Sharma, Powai. On seeing the spiritual progress of the Temple day by day with offering of Poojas, one Ayyappa Seva Sangham, Sakinaka, who used to perform Makaravilakku Pooja celebrations in 1973, approached Durgadevi Temple Sangham and both the parties decided to make a common platform for performing Pooja Festivals. Accordingly, from 1983 onwards started performing Poojas under the banner of AALPANAKAVU TEMPLE SANGHAM CHARITABLE SOCIETY and registered it with Charity Commissioner, Mumbai. Thereafter the Sangham has built four temples of Sree Ganesh, Sree Dharma Sastha, Godess Durga Devi and Nagraja at the donated premises. These temples are a loving emblem in the living mind of the great humanity in the north-eastern part of this Great Metropolis. Daily Poojas starting from 5 am to 10 am and 5 pm to 9 pm are performed by expert Brahmins. This Sangham has completed 30th ? Mandala Pooja Makaravialkku festivals. Makaravilakku Festivals are regularly celebrated on 14th January every year with grand procession of Lord Ayyappa and colourful traditional cultural programmes. By the grace of the Deities and with restless efforts of each and every member devotees, who have been working day and night and the cooperation of well wishers and Ayyappa devotees in and around of the Metropolis by way of cash and kind we could construct a new temple for Amme Devi Narayana, Maha Ganapathy and Nagaraja and the Puna Prathishta of the deities have done on 7th July, 2001. During these days, after Devprashna, the Managing Committee came to know that there are strong presence of 'NAVAGRAHA' and therefore it is essential to construct a Navagraha temple and perform daily poojas on Navagraha Pratishta. Accordingly, the Sangham has built a beautiful Navagraha temple within the premises and pratishta celebration were done successfully. One of the importance of Navagraha Pratishta in our Temple here is, Navagraha deities with their respective wives. There are few temples in Maharashtra where Navagrahas Pratishta with their wives. This temple is one of them and now we are getting tremendous response from the devotees of this area. All devotees, irrespective of cast, creed and religion contributed generously to the fund raising occasion, which stationed us to the present appreciable position. This temple is open for without cast, creed and religion. Vision
At present there is a Mandapam and Community Hall in the Temple Premises, which are additional facility for the devotees for conducting different types of ceremonies on different occasions. There are sufficient members in our list, whose free services are appreciable. The present facilities are inadequate and hence we are marching towards to construct a big community hall on the existing hall with the help of generous donations from the devotees and other general public. We express our heartiest gratitude to one and all for the help and encouragement extended to us from time to time in all our activities and programmes all along and in coming days. We are not only sure but certain that we will be taken to a world of expectations.
