Years ago, Ayatollah Khamenei said:
“In the not-too-distant future, Saudi weapons will fall into the hands of Islamic resistance fighters.”
Today, this statement is being remembered in light of developments on the ground in Yemen.
Yemeni Houthi forces have captured military equipment from Saudi-backed Yemeni forces, including U.S.-made and U.S.-supplied weapons and vehicles.
Recent reports and footage show captured Oshkosh armored vehicles, Humvees, artillery pieces, tanks, small arms and other military equipment being displayed by Houthi forces after their advances against Saudi-backed positions.
Saudi Arabia has for years been a major purchaser of American military equipment, and some of that equipment has been supplied or transferred to forces fighting alongside Saudi Arabia in Yemen.
What was once described as a future possibility is now being discussed in the context of American-made military equipment ending up in the hands of Yemen's Houthi resistance forces after battlefield captures.
