Arunachal Youth Set the Clock for 20:33
Roing, 16 May 2026: In a symbolic and faith-filled gesture marking their participation in the forthcoming Great Jubilee 2033, the youth of the Miao Diocese in Arunachal Pradesh collectively set their daily alarms for 20:33 during the Youth Convention held at Divine Word School, Roing.
Addressing the gathering, Bishop George Pallipparambil of Miao Diocese emphasised the global significance of the Jubilee year. “The whole world is looking towards 2033—the Great Jubilee marking 2000 years of the Church and the missionary mandate of the Risen Lord,” he said. Urging active involvement, he added, “It is important that every young person in our diocese becomes part of this global movement. Let us set our alarms at 20:33 as a daily reminder to pause and pray silently, wherever we may be.”
Around 350 youth from eight districts of eastern Arunachal Pradesh participated in this initiative, setting their alarms with the label “Thy Kingdom Come”, a brief prayer they will recite when the alarm sounds each day.
In his inaugural address, Mukut Mithi, former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh and former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, encouraged the youth to look beyond employment and strive for meaningful social transformation. “You carry the power and imagination to shape the future. Arunachal Pradesh’s true strength lies not only in its natural beauty but in its young people. Preserve your cultural identity and traditional wisdom, while aspiring towards scientific excellence,” he remarked.
Reflecting on the initiative, newly elected Youth President Khuntang Mossang said, “This is not merely about setting an alarm—it is our commitment to actively participate in and prepare for the Great Jubilee 2033.”
Appreciating the initiative, Wanglit Mongchan, Assistant Professor at the Arunachal Institute of Tribal Studies, Rajiv Gandhi University, Itanagar, noted that such practices would have a lasting spiritual impact as the Church journeys towards 2033.
Other resource persons included Oshi Ette, who spoke on social responsibility, and Ajin Joseph, who addressed the gathering on The Chosen web series.
Sharing her enthusiasm, Jesus Youth President Junnem Langching said, “It is beautiful that all of us will be united in prayer at the same time—20:33—with one voice, praying ‘Thy Kingdom Come’.”
The three-day Youth Convention featured a vibrant mix of activities, including cultural dance competitions, Bible tableau presentations, group discussions, and the election of new office-bearers for the Youth Commission of the Diocese.
