Adhyayana Utsavam at Ratnalayam 27 January 2026 🙏🏽 The term “Adhyayana” translates to “study” or “recitation” in Sanskrit, and “Utsavam” means “festival” or “celebration.”

Adhyayana Utsavam is a special celebration in Sri Vaishnavism where people honor Divya Prabandham, a collection of 4000 verses praising Lord Ranganatha by 12 saints.

Thirumangai Alwar, one of the saints, sang a special song, and Lord Ranganatha granted two wishes: to listen to another divine song and to consider Divya Prabandham as important as the Vedas.

This tradition is followed in temples like Srirangam and Tirumala during Adhyayana Utsavam, where people come together to recite these verses. It’s a way to remember and pass on the teachings of these saints, expressing love and devotion to the Lord.

On this day Andal Ammavaru proclaimed ‘Koodarai Vellum Seer Govinda’ - which means Those who come together will attain the divine grace of Govinda.

This is the most celebrated line from the 27th Pasuram of the Thiruppavai composed by Andal Ammavaru, to showcase her devotion to Govinda.

On this day, we recite the thiruppavai and share sweets with our community
