भगवान व राजा श्री कृष्णचन्द्र जी द्वारा अश्वरूपी दानव केशी का वध
God and King Shri Krishnachandra killing the demon horse Keshi
Keshi was a demon sent by evil Kansa in order to kill God Shri Krishna. Following his master’s order, Keshi undertook the form of a ferocious horse. He could gallop at incredible speeds, and his terrible neighing frightened the people around him. He started creating panic in the hometown of God Shri Krishnachandra ji. Watching this, Shri Krishna ji who was just a young boy at that time challenged Keshi to an open duel. The Keshi horse charged towards Shri Krishna ji trying to strike him with his huge hooves. Shri Krishna ji caught his two front legs and threw him around to a great distance. Recovering from this fall, agitated Keshi charged again towards Lord Krishna, this time with his jaws open. Shri Krishna ji threw a great blow with his left hand and broke Keshi’s teeth. Shri Krishna ji then started expanding his arm in his mouth, resulting in choking of Keshi. As Keshi fell lifeless to the ground, he assumed his true demonic form.
Kansa had sent a series of demons to Gokula and is said to be the last demon sent by Kansa to kill Shri Krishna ji. After Keshi's killing, Shri Krishna ji and his brother Shri Balarama ji went to Mathura, where in the end Shri Krishna killed his evil uncle Kansa and released his parents from prison.
Keshi-ghat is a major bathing ghat along the sacred river Yamuna ji in Vrindavan, where Shri Krishna ji is believed to have overpowered Keshi.
