Margao City Margao is also the commercial capital of Goa .

The name Mar­gaon is regarded a deriv­a­tive of Math­gram which lit­er­ally means ‘the vil­lage of tem­ples.’ After the Por­tuguese inva­sion, the tem­ples gave way to the spawn­ing of majes­tic churches and palaces.
