Life Divine !

To make Life Divine requires an inner change of location, not an outer one. You shift your consciousness from being centred in your body and mind with its thoughts, emotions, sentiments, desires, imaginations and memories to a higher dimension, a different plane where the consciousness always affirms and asserts: “aham Atma nirAkArah sarvavyApi svabhAvatah — I am the Atman, formless and all-pervading by nature.”

Cast away egoism, pride and selfishness. These three form the blemish upon human character. Ignorance makes you proud and egoistic. Greed makes you selfish. — They lead to dishonour, unhappiness and failure in life. By leading a simple life and having a cheerful disposition under all circumstances, you can overcome selfishness and egoism. Your life and conduct must be a cause of happiness to other people.

Wake up at dawn each day to salute the Universal Being. Bow down in adoration unto Him before you start the day. Fill your day with the spirit of worshipfulness. See God in all names and forms. Be courteous and polite, kind and generous, merciful and compassionate. Forgive and forget. Do good unto all. Live to serve others. Root out ego and selfishness. Become a servant of humanity, a messenger of peace and unity. Live and act for the welfare and happiness of all. Control anger. Control hatred by love. Never deceive, harm or hurt others. Strive to be Sadachari and Paropakari, knowing that the living presence of God indwells all beings.

Become filled with Divine Name :

Cling to the Divine Name, O' beloved seeker, and overcome all obstacles and come out victorious. The Name is Nectar. The Name will confer upon you the Divine bliss and transcendental peace. Repeat the Name. Sing it in Kirtans. Write it in a Mantra note book. Constantly remember the Lord with the help of His Name. Meditate on the Self. Become filled with the Divine Name.

GUIDED MEDITATION

I meditate upon the eternal reality indwelling, filling and permeating me through and through which is Supreme bliss. The Reality which is the source of perfect joy, which is of the nature of wisdom-consciousness, which transcends all duality, which is vast and limitless as the vast ether of space, which is the Reality indicated by all scriptures, which is one without a second, non-dual and permanent, spotless and pure, infinite and motionless, which is the light that illuminates the intellect, which is beyond all the changeful modes and moods of this manifest phenomenon. Upon that great Reality indwelling and pervading me, I dwell in utmost contemplation in the inmost silent interior. I meditate upon the Reality which is pure consciousness, eternal, which is profound peace, transcending even the subtlest element, the ether of space, beyond all manifest modes, the one absolute changeless non-dual essence, the inner Reality and the centre of my consciousness.

To lead the spiritual life is your sole purpose here on earth; all else is but meaningless delusion. Pursuit of goals other than God-experience is a hopeless failure to understand the very purpose of existence and is a deplorable waste of most precious life. Time flies. Waste no more time. Seriously make up to spiritual life and progress upon the inner path that leads to God-realisation. Live every moment for realising God. Waste not time in vain matters. This world is vanity fair of brief duration. All things perish and pass away. He who is wise is vigilant and careful. He attains the goal, makes life fruitful.

"You are never alone when you have Japa (recitation of Mantra) with you. Know this for certain, the Mantra is God. And God Himself is the Mantra. May the Mantra ever dwell within you. Be sustained by it."

Tribute to Swami Chinmayananda

— Swami Chidananda

"I have come here not only as his Gurubhai, but also as his friend, I cherish a great love for him. We were together for almost two years with one wall separating two rooms, side by side, in the Shivananda Ashram in 1945 and 46. We are grateful for this privilege. He was a man of great humor. He liked to laugh and make others laugh also. He endeared himself to everyone because he cherished affectionate love for everyone.

Bhagavan declares in the Geeta to Arjuna "That devotee is extremely dear to Me". Though for Lord there is nothing of the sort "dear" or "not dear", nevertheless that devotee is very dear to the Lord who propagates the nectarine words of wisdom, as told by the Lord, among the masses and brings them to the fold of spirituality. From this we can clearly understand how extremely dear Swami Chinmayanandajii Maharaj is to his Ishta Devata. As a sanyasin, he worshipped Lord Shiva. But in the heart of hearts, he is a Krishna Bhakta. He himself is Balakrishna and Balakrishna Bhakta."

Seek God alone !

The Bhakti that crowns us with Liberation is Nishkama (selfless). This Bhakti seeks nothing but the great privilege of loving the Lord. This Bhakti seeks nothing other than the Lord Himself – God for God’s sake, devotion for the sake of devotion. Even if something is given, it refuses to accept it. It is this Bhakti that is to be practised if you want to make your life worthwhile, attain the supreme Goal and become forever blessed.

This human life is too precious to be lost in delusion and ignorance. Wake up, O wake up. This world is passing through times of great uncertainty. The caprice of nature visits man with innumerable sudden and unexpected catastrophies. Floods and famines, volcanoes and earthquakes, cyclones and hurricanes, wars and pestilences and accidents galore are taking their terrible tolls before your very eyes even as you watch and see your near and dear ones and cherished objects go the way of destructions. From all sides come reports of pain and death. Day by day, year after year, countless lives thus come to an end abruptly. What have you learnt? Do you alone feel secure in the midst of inevitable process? Have you got in your shirt pocket the sealed guarantee that you alone live to be a hundred summers? Do not deceive yourself. Be wise. Live nobly. Practise virtue. Be thou a Yogi, one who tries to attain God. Do Sadhana. Lead a Divine Life. Infinite blessedness will be yours right here and now.
