GOD IS OUR REFUGE & STRENGTH

(Psalms 46:1-3)

-God is our refuge & strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we should not fear, though the earth shake and the mountains fall.

-We go through many struggles. But none of our struggles will remain forever. There is a certain period for everything. After that period is over, we realise how God has taken care of us during hardships.

-The night will go & the day will come again. Storms may come in our life. But it will not remain stormy forever.

-Every trouble in our life has its end.

-We become unsatisfied when we compare our life with the standard of others.

-Success is measured by different parameters by various people.
Satisfaction is measured by our own mind, soul & heart.

-God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him.
He measures how much we are thankful to him.

-God teaches new lessons through every problem.

-Sometimes, God may take something from our life inorder to return it with something much better.

-In the Bible, every person God touched had gone through tough life situations. For eg: Moses, Joseph, David, Daniel, Job & so on.

-Only the person who knows that God is preparing him for something better during hardship will be able to praise him.

-King David is more popular than King Solomon. It is only because he was a godly man.

-When we look back at the problems we have gone through, we will realise how much God has changed us.

-Aeroplane flies against the resistance by the air. Walk with God through the problems, you will succeed.

-On seeing the Red Sea, Moses didn't go back. So we should never give up looking at the problems. Work tirelessly to overcome the crisis. God can do miracles for us.

-God will work in his ways. We may not always understand it. But just obey him. His ways are greater than our ways.

Praise the Lord.

GOING FOR AN EXTRA MILE

(Matthew 5:41)

Jesus said: If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.

-God wants us to go for an extra mile.

-When God tells us to do something, we should do more than what we are asked to do.

-When Jesus told Jews about going for an extra mile, it was a difficult situation for them.
-The Jews were under the rule of Roman empire. The Roman soldiers forced them to carry heavy military equipments & luggages on their way. They found it difficult but they had no other choice than to obey the soldiers.

-The concept of going an extra mile can be well understood from the story of a king & his two soldiers.

-Once, a king asked two of his soldiers to go to the border of the country & find information about the rivals. Both soldiers didn't know about each other. The first soldier returned & told king about their enemies trying to invade the place.

-The second soldier returned to the king & delivered more information about the number of enemies ,their place & the weapons in their hand.

-Both soldiers completed their task but the second soldier went an extra mile to collect more information.

-Like the second soldier, we should also go for an extra mile.

-In the Bible, Daniel is someone who went an extra mile for God. Daniel could have enjoyed a luxurious life by obeying the king & eating his food in the palace .But he went an extra mile for obeying God.

-We should have a strong desire to spend more time with God & meditate more on God's words & grow in his love & power.

-Our heart should be filled with God's love. Everything we do should be out of his love. This brings an extra mile.

-Jesus said, if someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.
-Christian life is about forgiveness.

-Pride & laziness are two obstacles for going an extra mile.

-God honours those who humble themselves.
Many big missionaries started their work by doing small jobs.

-God chooses those who are ignored by others.

-We should not be stagnant at the same position.

-If you are willing to go for an extra mile, God will lift you up.

Praise the Lord!

EASTER

-Every day in history is dated with reference to the ressurection of Lord Jesus Christ
-By the ressurection of Christ the era was split into AD and BC
-Apart from this 2 things were accomplished :

1.The history of Jesus Christ was proved or validated
2.Life after death was proved

-Jesus Christ had to suffer intense pain on the cross
- By this He showed us a model of how to handle pains and troubles of our lives
-When we go through problems we have to follow the model of the life of Christ

-The death, burial and resurrection happened within 3 days
- These 3 days shows three different situations of our lives
- Friday- pain, suffering, agony
- Saturday- loss, grief, confusion, misery
- Sunday- joy, victory, celebration
<
-When we go through Fridays and Saturdays we need not worry because we will soon reach the day of joy that's Sunday

- On FRIDAY, Christ had to go through "physical pain" because of the tortures He faced
- He had to undergo "emotional and psychological pain" because the death on the cross was the death of humiliation
- He underwent "spiritual pain" because He carried the sins of the entire mankind

- When we tell God about our Fridays and Saturdays he can understand us well because he has undergone the same situations

- When in pain Jesus did 2 things :

1.Reached out to his friends
- It's important to share our pains with friends rather than pulling back from them or isolating ourselves

2.Reached out to God

-We can reach out to God in prayer because He is our dear Father and will hear us anytime
-When Jesus was in pain, He prayed .

- He prayed that -
a.He believed that God could do anything
b. He told God that He didn't want to face that pain
c. He also offered His trust by saying that the will of the Father should be done

-On SATURDAY, the disciples were in confusion
- They had regret, fear, doubts
- We also go through Saturdays in our lives
- But when we offer our trust in God and hang on to His promises we can get through the Saturdays

- SUNDAY is the day of celebration because Christ Jesus was ressurected
-When the disciples saw Jesus they did not worry anymore and their joy was becoming contagious

-Sunday is the day of ressurection and joy
- Because Christ overcame death and all Fridays and Saturdays

- Therefore to get through tough times ,we need to reach out to God who is able to get us through all the Fridays and Saturdays of our lives and bring us to Sunday.

God bless

THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE OF JESUS CHRIST

(Revelation 13:8,9)

-Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who was slain from the creation of the world.

-In the Old testament, Israelites sacrificed lambs without defect as an offering to the Lord for the remission of their sins.
But this ended with the new testament.

-Jesus paid the highest price at the cross by shedding his blood. This was the ultimate sacrifice.
-After his crucifixion, no more lambs were sacrificed in the Bible.

-It is the law of God that without shedding blood, there is no forgiveness.

-Jesus is the lamb of God. Lamb signifies peace & lamb is born to be sacrificed. The blood of the lamb cleanses everything.

-From the beginning of the world, the Bible shows shadow of things that were to happen through Jesus Christ.

-After disobeying God, Adam & Eve realised that they were naked. God made clothes for them from the skin of a lamb. When the man sinned for the first time, a lamb was sacrificed here. This shows the shadow of Jesus.

-Both Abel & Cain made offering to the Lord. Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering. But Abel brought some of the first born of his flock.

-God was pleased with Abel's offering because there was shedding of blood in his offering.

-Cain made his own choices. So God was not pleased with him.

-We cannot please God with our own laws & rules.

-Noah built an altar to the Lord & made an offering by sacrificing his animals & birds. Because of Noah & his family, God blessed the earth.

-Our offerings should be a pleasing aroma to the Lord. It should be according to the laws & rules of the God. It should not be based on our own choices. Only then God will be pleased with us.

-Through out the Bible, God was pleased in every offering where there was a shadow of the lamb of God.

-Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.
All we need to do is to believe him.

GOD'S PURPOSE BEHIND
OUR TRIALS

(James 1:1-4)

- The book of James, written by James, who was the brother of Jesus begins with how to handle our life during testing period.

-There are times when we feel our life is becoming a mess. There are days when u don't get clue about tomorrow. But as we are children of God, our trust & hope should be only on him.

-Our God is a God of faithfulness. He will never leave us alone. When problems surround us, He comes closer to us & carries us in His hands.

-Therefore we should not tremble looking at the obstacles.

-As we know that God will make a way for us, we should stop worrying & we should lead a life with a heavenly standard.

-Worry fades away when u know who holds your future.

-Live for each day.

-Let us consider the life of Abraham as an example. He trusted God with the impossible & God prepared a scapegoat for him.

-God does not allow trials in our life without a purpose.

-Why does God allow trials in our life?
It is to make u grow strong in faith. More the problems we face, the more we depend on God & eventually we become stronger.

-God can solve any problem in our life, regardless of how big it is. Therefore stop worrying & start praying.

-Nothing is impossible with God.

-We learn new things from every problems & every mistakes.

-At the present, things may seem dull. But it is not the end. We are on the way to success & we will succeed.

-Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us eternal victory. Therefore we should stop focussing on our problems & start leading our life with a heavenly standard.

-If we stand firm, we will see the glory of God.

Praise the Lord.

SPIRITUAL MEANING OF TENT
(Message by Pr.Job John on 31/03/19)

(2 Corinthians 5:1)
"Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.

body is like a tent where our soul lives.
-But this tent is temporary. This tent keeps on changing from one place to another while living in the world.
-But at the end, we are going back to our real birthplace, which is the heaven.

* Tent has lot of significance in the Bible.
*In the book of Genesis, Jabal was the first person who lived in tents.
*Abraham, Isaac, Jacob n all of them stayed in tents.
-They kept on building tents wherever they go.
-But these tents were temporary n finally they went to their real birthplace, the land which was given to them by the Lord.

*This is what happens in our spiritual life.
-We keep moving from one place to another.
-We take lot of efforts & spend so much money on various things.
-But nothing in this world will last forever.

ultimate goal of our life should be to reach our heavently house which is not built by human hands but by our saviour Lord Jesus Christ & this is where our birth place is situated.

**Tents are not houses but it is called a home.
-Likewise, our body should be a home where love, peace, faith, patience, kindness & goodness lives.
-Only then God can come & live in our body which is the living temple of God.

Genesis-31:8
- The world loves only the people and things with beauty
-So was Laban because he told that he would give all the ringstraked cattle of less beauty to Jacob
- But God worked miracles for Jacob and gave all the cattles to Jacob
-God is able to bring up the ringstraked and the poor people with no much beauty for the lord's glory
- God is mightily using such people for his kingdom
- Even if people do harm to you, or plan to destroy all you have, God sees it and works miracles for you
- The angels are there for your protection so that none of the forces of the world can come near you
- Jacob was a very mighty man of God, but still Laban made him a slave for 20 years
- The power of Laban is no less.
- God made man and wife to rule over the world and everything it had
- But the serpent or the evil ruled over the man because of its cunningness and diplomacy
- People get attracted to all these temptations because the evil is very cunning and diplomatic just like Laban
- The Laban's of the world will try to attract you through different temptations and people tend to fall for these tactics
- The Devil knows our weaknesses and the he aims at our weaknesses
- Jacob decides to flee from Laban to his father Issac
- Going back to parents is a blessing and a deliverance
-Jacob did not serve the God of his wife but he served the God of his father Issac
- Even when Laban knew that God is with Jacob, Laban was not ready to stop considering him as a slave
- World will try to mislead you, but we as the children of God should be on the right track and should not be deceived by the devil
- Even if we have to loose everything of the world, we should remember that God is preparing us for his mighty works
- The battle belongs to the Lord
- We need not be worried about tomorrow because he who has called us is faithful and he will make our journey wonderful
- May God help us to place our trust in the God of Abraham and be on the right spiritual track
Amen

March 3/19-Messge by Pr.Job John

Hebrew 10:34
- Book of a Hebrew is very close to our life. It represents the divinity of Christ
- We as believers some times forget that the false patriotism sometimes overtakes our spiritual zeal
- Nothing should be above our spiritual life
- Our identity should be that we are 'believers'
- Book of Hebrew was written when people were confused with different ideologies, and concepts during their times
- The Hebrews had to face mockery from people when they were saved. They were also compassionate about the people who faced problems.
- But later on their zeal and their faith faded away slowly like most of us who are not interested to come to the presence of the Lord
- All those who have faith in the lord will not be disheartened by any hard trials because they know about the enduring blessings in heaven
- Even if trials come we should not cast away the confidence for the reward that is to come in heaven
- Because the crown and reward is set in heaven
- All that we need now is patience to receive the reward
- We should be the people who walk forward in Christian life rather than drawing back
- We should never be discouraged or tired of the Christian life instead we should enjoy each day which will make our Christian life interesting
- Hold tight on to Christ Jesus because he is able to lead us everyday
-Therefore we are not with them who draw back, but of them that believe to saving of the soul
Amen
