Sacred Heart Church, Railway Colony, Madurai. Railway colony parish of Madurai south Vicariate was erected a parish in 1921. The present church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was built in 1927.

This parish was established for the purpose of fulfilling the pastoral needs of the Anglo-Indian community which were predominantly living in the locality and this tradition continues uninterruptedly till date. Meanwhile in 1959, Gnanalivolipuram and in 1988 New Ellisnagar parishes were bifurcated from this parish. A very special feature of this parish is the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

on 1st Fridays where mass is celebrated at 11:00 AM in Tamil along with the healing service and English mass at 6:00 PM, which goes on well. Mass is also celebrated on all other Fridays at 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM. The Tamil mass is celebrated at 7:00 AM on Sundays and Holy Mass in English is celebrated at 9:00 AM. On all other weekdays, Tamil mass is celebrated at 6:00 PM. Many people from various other parishes participate in Holy Mass here at Sacred Heart Church. The Archbishop has declared the Sacred Heart Parish as a personal parish for all the faithful of the Anglo Indian Community that resides at various parts of Madurai City. This decree came into effect on 17th March 2017.
