s. The foundation of this temple was laid by an eminent legal luminary of the city, namely, Shri Mohan Lal Jhanji, with full religious rites and rituals on 17th April 1992. Sacred functions, such as, yagyas, havens, etc., began in the precincts of the temple right from the day of its foundation, followed by the blessings and discourses of Swami Dr Nighamboth Tirth Ji Maharaj of Ved Mandir, Ludhiana. Venerable Usha Mataji of Agra, who visited the temple on the request of the temple committee, revealed that she felt the presence of some divine power at the site of the temple. During the course of her homily, Mataji promised that her own organization would install lofty idol of Maa Bhagwati in the temple. Keeping her promise, Reverend Mataji donated beautiful idol of Maa Durga and installed idols of Maa Durga and Maa Mahakali in the temple with all the holy rites and rituals on 7th May 1992. Just after land became available, the construction of the temple buildings began in full swing. Alongeside, the temple committee also decided to take up work for social welfare. As a result, a free homoeopathic dispensary came into existence. The dispensary was inaugurated by S. Chanranjit Singh Atwal, Deputy Speaker Lok Sabha, who was then holding charge of Speaker, Punjab Legislative Assembly. The temple committee has launched some schemes to help the poor and the needy. The SGM Society, for instance, provides free ration and financial help to the poor apart from running the Dispensary. The Jaideva Sewa Society looks after the abandoned cows, while another committee organizes Dushara Festival each year. The temple committee also organizes ‘Yoga’ for the ladies and summer camps for the school children. There is yet another committee to propagate the message of clean environment. With installation of the deity of Shri Shani Dev Ji number of devotees visiting the temple increased manifolds. Shnicharananuragi Pandit Madan Lal Ji Rajasthani has symbolized Shani Dham at this temple as Kashat Niwark for the devotees who worship Shri Shani Dev Ji with oil.
