St:Thomas forane church Kumily started its voyage as a parish on 1952 June 22 under the Spiritual guidance of Fr:Sebastian Elamthuruthiyil.The mass was celebrated in houses of different parish members.As result of the continous req
uest by the parish member, then Bishop of Palai Diocese Mar Sebastian Vayalil gave the permission for a church.The present church at now was Blessed by Mar Joseph Powathil, the then Bishop of Kanjirappally on 1977 February 26th.The forane church also got a precious chance for hosting the All Kerala Catholic Congress Jubilee Celebrations in the year 1978.St:Thomas Forane church served in many soical issues.During the Amaravathy Issue the church served as shelter for hundreds of people who were eliminated from their land.Also the St:Thomas English Medium Higher Secondary School represents the social commitment of the church
