Idukki Diocese

Idukki Diocese Idukki Diocese was formed in the year 1982 to fulfill the Spiritual needs of the Orthodox Syrian People settled in the High Ranges of Idukki District.

Idukki diocese was formed in the year 1982 with a view to fulfill the spiritual needs of the orthodox syrian people settled in the highranges of Idukki District who had been migrated from different parts of the state, especially from Kottayam and Ernakulam districts. This area was part of Kottayam and Kandanadu diocese. H.G Mathews Mar Bernabas Metropolitan (1982-1992) was the first bishop of this

diocese who paved the way for the future developments of this diocese. The following bishops succeeded him and have lead the diocese to newer heights:-

H.G Mathews Mar Severius (1992-1994)

H.G Poulos Mar Pachomius (1994-2002)

H.G Abraham Mar severius (2002-2004)

H.G Ougen Mar Dionysius (2005-2007)

H.B Poulos Mar Militius (2007-2009)

H.G Mathews Mar Theodosius (2009 onwards)

The diocesan head quarters is GATHSEMON ARAMANA situated at Kungiripetty in Kumily-Munnar Highway, 10 K.M away from Kumily. A new chapel and aramana building has been constructed and consecrated in the year 2008 by H.B Poulos Mar militius Metropolitan. At present there are 35 churches and about 2500 families in this diocese. 26 Vicars have been serving this diocese. There are 3 Deacons and 4 seminary students right now. പരിശുദ്ധ പാമ്പാടി തിരുമേനിയുടെ 48-ാം ഓര്മപ്പെരുന്നാള് ഏപ്രില് നാല്, അഞ്ച് തീയതികളില് വിപുലമായ ചടങ്ങുകളോടെ ആചരിക്കും.
പരിശുദ്ധ വലിയ ബാവായും പരിശുദ്ധ കാതോലിക്കാ ബാവായും നേതൃത്വം നല്കും. സഭയിലെ മറ്റു മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്തമാര് സഹകാര്മികരായിരിക്കും. പരിശുദ്ധ പാമ്പാടി തിരുമേനിയുടെ കബറിടത്തിലേക്ക് കേരളത്തിന്റെ നാനാഭാഗത്തു നിന്നുമെത്തുന്ന തീര്ത്ഥാടകരെ സ്വീകരിക്കുവാന് ഒരുക്കങ്ങളാരംഭിച്ചു.

പെരുന്നാളിന്റെ കൊടിയേറ്റ് 31ന് മൂന്നിന് ഭദ്രാസനാധിപന് അഭിവന്ദ്യ ഗീവറുഗീസ് മാര് ഈവാനിയോസ് മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്താ നിര്വഹിക്കും. ഏപ്രില് 4ന് കുന്നംകുളത്ത് നിന്നുള്ള തീര്ത്ഥാടകരെ സ്വീകരിക്കും. 4ന് കാരാപ്പുഴയില് നിന്നും ഇടുക്കിയില് നിന്നുമുള്ള തീര്ത്ഥാടകരെ പാമ്പാടി കത്തീഡ്രലില് സ്വീകരിക്കും. 5ന് കത്തീഡ്രലില് നിന്നുള്ള റാസ ദയറായിലേക്ക് ആരംഭിക്കും. 5.45ന് വിവിധ ഇടവകകളില് നിന്നുള്ള തീര്ത്ഥാടകര്ക്ക് ദയറായില് സ്വീകരണം. തുടര്ന്ന് അനുസ്മരണ പ്രസംഗം ഡോ.എം.ഇ. കുര്യാക്കോസ് നിര്വഹിക്കും. 7.30ന് ഫാ. ടി.ജെ. ജോഷ്വായുടെ ശതാബ്ദി സമ്മേളനം. പരിശുദ്ധ ബസേലിയോസ് മാര്ത്തോമ്മാ പൌലോസ് ദ്വിതീയന് കാതോലിക്കാ ബാവാ അധ്യക്ഷത വഹിക്കും. മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ഉമ്മന് ചാണ്ടി ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്യും. മാര്ത്തോമ്മാ സഭയിലെ ഡോ.ഗീവറുഗീസ് മാര് അത്തനാസിയോസ് മുഖ്യസന്ദേശം നല്കും. 9ന് കബറിങ്കല് അഖണ്ഡ പ്രാര്ത്ഥന, അനുസ്മരണ പ്രസംഗങ്ങള്.

5ന് പുലര്ച്ചെ ആദ്യകുര്ബ്ബാന സഖറിയാസ് മാര് അന്തോണിയോസ്. 8.30ന് പരിശുദ്ധ കാതോലിക്കാ ബാവായുടെ മുഖ്യകാര്മികത്വത്തില് വിശുദ്ധ മൂന്നിന്മേല് കുര്ബ്ബാന. 10ന് ദേവാലയങ്ങളിലും സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലും ഭവനങ്ങളിലും സൌരോര്ജം ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഉദ്ഘാടനം. ഫാ.ഡോ. കെ.എം. ജോര്ജ് വിഷയാവതരണം നടത്തും. തുടര്ന്ന് പ്രദക്ഷിണം, നേര്ച്ച വിളമ്പ്, സ്നേഹവിരുന്ന്. കേരളത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് KSRTCയുടെ ഉൾപ്പെടെ പ്രത്യേക ബസ് സര്വ്വീസുകളും പെരുന്നാളിനോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും.
