A new chapter in the history of the Chengannur – Mavelikara Diocese opens up with the purchase of the proposed land at Arratupuzha and the wide range of possible programmes and projects which will be integrated within here. This project will be in continuation to the great vision of His Grace the Rt. Dr. Zacharias Mar Theophilus Suffragan Metropolitan to b
uild up the people rooted in Christian faith and witness. The place is envisioned to become a Centre of all the Mission & Humanitarian projects of the Diocese. The ideal location of this land with very good road connectivity and the scenic riverside at the rear end of the plot will add more beauty and attraction to this centre. The major features of the Centre will include:
Cancer Care & Palliative Care Centre:
The Karuthal Project of the Diocese is today enfolding the needs of more than 850 cancer patients and their families. There is an increasing need of palliative care for many of our patients and the proposed Palliative Care Centre will be a great source of comfort and healing to the needy patients. Co- ordination Centre for all the various projects of the Diocese:
The Diocese has more than 35 projects catering to various category of people in various age groups and diverse needs. This centre will enable us for a greater co-ordination of the projects and also enable a suitable setting for various meetings of the projects and its related work. Counseling centre:
With increasing number of people in distress and family breakdowns it is very necessary that we have a full fledged counseling centre which will cater to people in need of emotional and mental support to overcome the everyday hardships faced in their fast changing lives today. The Dormitory, rooms conceived in this project will give an opportunity for individuals and families to stay and participate in counseling programmes. Especially thrust can be given for programmes for children, teen, youth and adults. Pre- Marital, Post Marital counseling programmes on a regular basis, family strengthening programmes etc can be held more effectively and frequently and reach out to a larger section of the society. Camp and Retreat Centre:
This centre can be developed into an attractive Camp & Retreat centre which can be utilized for conducting the various camps and conferences of the organizations in the Diocese, parishes, Centres and other Christian groups in this region. Human Resource Development Centre:
This Centre will be a resource centre which will be able to channelise the various developmental programmes that the Church has to offer and also become a mediating agency for helping and guiding the economically backward class to find means of holistic development. It can become a liaison agency for the common people and the governmental and non governmental agencies which are involved in developmental programmes in various fields such as agriculture, health, basic infrastructure, education, self employment etc. De – Addiction Centre:
With increasing number of teens, youths and adults falling into the trap of various addictions, programmes to facilitate people to come out of unhealthy addictions and lifestyle will be a focus in this centre. Awareness programmes, Camps, Counselling facilities will be provided for the needy through this centre. Development Centre for Specially Challenged People:
A Vocational Training Centre for enabling Specially Challenged people to lead an independent life and also find means of self employment will be special focus of this Centre. Convention Centre:
It had been a desire to have a place for having a Diocesan Convention for the last few years and this will be a suitable land for members from all the parishes of the Diocese to come together due to its ideal location and availability of very good public transport connecting to all parts of the Diocese. Parking spaces for large number of vehicles is an added advantage. Prayer & Meditation Centre:
A prayer and meditation centre for the nourishment of the spiritual lives of individual and families who wish to spend time in meditation and prayer. Eumenical Dialouge Centre:
Central Travancore is well know for its rich heritage in religious and cultural spheres. The rich diversity that we see here also complements the Ecumenical Harmony between the various Christian denominations and also among the various religions that co-exist and co-enrich in the past centuries. This Centre can become a nodal point for studies and dialogue for inter denominational groups, inter- religious groups and thereby promote values of Ecumenism and Religious Harmony in the local levels.
