Sri Swarupananda Brahmachari (Yogacharya Tapan Bose Mahasaya) is an Indian Kriya Yogi and an Enlightened Guru who was born in Kolkata of West Bengal in the year 1954. He was born to his highly spiritual parents, namely Sri Narendranath Bose, his father and Smt. At the tender age of eight years, he was initiated into Kriya Yoga by Guru Sri Paramahamsa Hariharananda belonging to the great lineage of
Mahavatar Babaji Maharaj. On the 19th April 1979, he was initiated into Brahmacharya by his revered Gurudev. In the year 1997, he attained the highest spiritual stage of Yoga, i.e., the complete communion with God. He obtained his Master Degree in English literature from the University Of Calcutta and joined the Indian Railway Services. During his short tenure in the Indian Railways, he initiated many people into Kriya Yoga at the order of his Gurudev. Sri Swarupanandaji is a Kriya Yoga Master in the order of Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya. His esteemed Gurudev initiated him into all the advanced stages of Kriya Yoga. At present he lives in the suburb of Kolkata within the State of West Bengal, India. He is an ordained and anointed Guru in the spiritual tradition of Kriya Yoga. He teaches and imparts Kriya Yoga techniques directly to his disciples who are living in all parts of India and the World. The book entitled 'Kriya Yoga', authored by Gurudev Sri Swarupanandaji in Bengali, has gained wide circulation in recent times. How long one needs to stay in India for the first Kriya initiation and how often they need to come back to learn the higher Kriyas?
