Continuing from the earlier talk on Love Without Attachment from Swami Vivekananda's Karma Yoga, this talk explores its application to one of the most difficult experiences of life: the loss of a loved one.
Sri Ramakrishna had already passed through the highest spiritual realizations, yet after the death of his young nephew Akshay, he described a pang of grief as though his very heart were being wrung like a wet towel. Holy Mother wept intensely after Sri Ramakrishna's passing, and the pain of separation remained with her for years, while Swami Vivekananda spoke years later of the pain surrounding the sudden loss of his father.
What, then, does unattached love mean in the midst of grief? How can we deeply mourn the loss of someone we love while still moving forward spiritually?
