The Archdiocese of Calcutta took part actively in the prestigious 13th National Youth Directors’ Meet 2026, held on 19th and 20th August at the Boniface Pastoral Centre, Mancotta, Dibrugarh, Assam. The gathering brought together more than 120 Youth Directors and Lady Animators from across the country.

The event was graced by Most Rev. Dr. Ignatius D’Souza, Chairman of the CCBI Youth Commission, along with Most Rev. John Moolachira, Most Rev. Linus Nelli, Most Rev. Albert Hemrom, Rev. Fr. John Burman and the office bearers of the CCBI Youth Commission.

Held under the theme “Rooted in Christ, Leading Youth towards Light,”the meet provided a valuable platform for sharing experiences, nurturing collaboration and strengthening the Church’s mission with young people.

The Diocesan Youth Director of the Archdiocese of Calcutta was also present and actively participated in this significant national gathering.

🌱 NYS 2026: Growing a Greener Future 🌱

The Mango Seed Collection Drive initiated by ICYM Calcutta in the month of June 2026 came to a meaningful close with around 3.1k mango seeds collected and handed over to the Gutli Man of India, Mr. Jasmit Singh Arora, on the day of National Youth Sunday. 🌳🥭

A special congratulations to Fatima Shrine, which collected an outstanding 980 seeds and won the Laudato Si’ Green Earth Award! 🏆🌿

ICYM Calcutta extends heartfelt gratitude to all the youth and parishes who participated and turned this initiative into a beautiful expression of faith in action.

Together, we planted not just seeds, but hope for generations to come. 💚

| National Youth Sunday 2026 |

The 10th Edition of National Youth Sunday (NYS) 2026 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy at Holy Child School, CIT Road, on 9th August 2026, bringing together around 500 young people from 35 parishes of the Archdiocese of Calcutta.

This year's theme, ‘Togetherness in Love, Forever in Christ’, was carefully chosen to address the growing decline in Catholic marriages and thereby help young Catholics to fall in love within their faith.

What made this year’s celebration unique was its Green NYS initiative, making the celebration more eco-friendly. Young people from various parishes collected mango seeds, turning a simple act into a meaningful step towards a greener and more sustainable future. The parish that collected the highest number of mango seeds was felicitated for its commendable effort.

The celebration was a vibrant blend of faith, creativity, fellowship and a renewed commitment to caring for our common home.
