As the lunar year arrives, the heart of the Chinese community in Kolkata beats in harmony with traditions passed down through generations. Even far from their ancestral homeland, Chinese culture continues to thrive- through Dragon and lion dance, red couplets on doorsteps, family gathering, ancestor worship and the joyful welcoming of the God of Wealth. Time may change, but the cultural roots remain strong .
Over three days beginning on Lunar New's Year, nearly 180 members and devotees of Fo Guang Shan Kolkata Buddhist center with their BLIA dragon Dance Group traveled from home to home, visiting 138 households to share the New Year blessings through vibrant Lion dance performances.
This video captures more than a celebration- it reflects Unity, Devotion, and the enduring spirit of a community keeping its traditions alive. In every drumbeat and every welcoming doorway, Chinese cultures continue to flourish and be passed on with pride.
