নৌকার মাঝি ও পণ্ডিতের গল্প

গল্পের মূল বিষয়: এক অহংকারী পণ্ডিত নদী পার হওয়ার সময় মাঝিকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, "তুমি কি বেদ-পুরাণ বা ব্যাকরণ পড়েছ?" মাঝি বলল, "না মহারাজ।" পণ্ডিত বললেন, "তাহলে তোমার জীবনের বারো আনাই বৃথা!" কিছুক্ষণ পর নদীতে তীব্র ঝড় উঠল এবং নৌকা ডুবতে লাগল। এবার মাঝি পণ্ডিতকে জিজ্ঞাসা করল, "মহারাজ, আপনি কি সাঁতার জানেন?" পণ্ডিত ভয়ার্ত গলায় বললেন, "না!" মাঝি বলল, "তাহলে তো আপনার জীবনের ষোলো আনাই বৃথা!"

নৈতিক শিক্ষা: জড় বিদ্যার অহংকার মানুষকে উদ্ধার করতে পারে না। জীবনের চূড়ান্ত সংকটে (মৃত্যুর সময়ে) কেবল ভগবানের নামস্মরণ এবং ভক্তিরূপ সাঁতারই মানুষকে মায়া-সংসার সমুদ্র পার করতে সাহায্য করে।

Yesterday there was a ceremony in Hotel National in Moscow where Srila Prabhupada stayed in 1971. The hotel has a gallery of portraits of famous people who stayed in the hotel. Among those are Lenin, Stalin, Great Princess Romanov, Catherine Deneuve, Herbert Wells, Steven Seagull, Pele and others. Today Prabhupada’s portrait was added to that gallery. Devotees had a program with speeches from academics and representatives of other faiths, and then popular Russian singer Sati Kazanova chanted a few mantras. Later, devotees visited the room in which Srila Prabhupada stayed during his historic visit. I am sharing some photos made by me, and later there will be professional photos available.
