The core philosophies in both religion and democracy are based on the theory that all men and women are created in the image of God or in other words, the Creator and the created men and women are not two but one. Gandhi had based his Sarvodaya doctrine on the book, 'Unto This Last' by John Ruskin who in turn based his theme of his book on a parable told by Jesus to his disciples. Unto This Last, had paved the way for the Western Model of Socialism and raised the living standard of workers through fair living wages.
