Nava Durga Temple (GSB Temple) is located at Anandapuram, Andikaddav, Kannamaly ,Kochi, Kerala,India.(https://goo.gl/maps/6mNDYkccKbZFyrea7) .It is a subordinate temple under the management of Anandapuram Tirumala Devaswom. The temple architecture differs from the traditional Kerala style and follows the Goan style characterized by a dome above the main prathista. There are holes provided at top o
f the dome for exposure to rain and air. So, this temple is also called Moodiyilla temple (Temple without cover). Exclusive prayer sessions and worship is the hall mark on the last Tuesday of the Malayalam month and also during the hallowed days of Navaratri. During Navaratri, we awaken the energy aspect of Godhead in the personification of the universal mother Goddess Durga, which precisely indicate the remover of grief in life. The Nava Durga temple was established by the first migrants of Goa to the Anandapuram, Andikadavu area in 16th Century. Sasasti Devaraya Kamathi, a prominent merchant from Sasasti, Goa who came to Kerala leaving his homeland due to the Portuguese inquisition in Goa had settled down at Andikadavu after purchasing an uninhabited village of Andikadavu from the ruler of Cochin and transforming it fit for habitation. The Gowda Saraswata Brahmin community who settled down at this area and named it as Anandapuram that is place of Joy. Devaraya Kamathi installed nine Durga’s brought with him in the temple constructed by him without roof and introduced pooja’s and annual festival called “Thalappoly”. The temple is locally known as “Mudiyilla Ambalam” meaning a temple without roof. Later In 2005, the temple was renovated and built in a Goan style architecture with Dome above the main Pratishta. The presiding Pratishta are stone idols of the Nine Divine forms of Durga Devi installed in the temple and a loha vigraha of Durga Devi. On the left side of the main Shrine ,there are two other sub-temple inside the temple premises, these are temples dedicated to Panchamukhi Yakshi and Naga Devatas.
