The word "Gosripuram" is derived from three words "Gomanthak", "Srimanth" and "Puram" ie., the settlement (Puram) of the wealthy people (Srimanth) from Goa (Gomanthak). Gosripuram Cochin Thirumala Devaswom is the biggest and most important socio-religious institution of Gauda Saraswat Brahmins of Kerala.
