About: Chandkheri is a well -known pilgrimage place, Digamber Jain Atishay Kshetra (Place of Miracles), at Jhalawar district of Rajasthan, India .
Actually, foundation of this temple is on a miracle. In the later half part of seventeenth century, Diwaan KishanDasji Madiya of Kota Empire was instructed by someone in dream to bring a unique idol of Bhagwan Aadinath from nearby Barapaati forest, and establish it in a temple.
Motivated by a dream, KishanDasji went to a forest and found a red stone idol of 6’ 3” in cross legged sitting posture. His life became worthy. KishanDasji Madiya (of Bagherwal cast) wanted to take this miraculous jain idol to his village Sangod. But before the first sun ray exploded, he reached at the bank of River Rupali in Khanpur town. Once when they stopped at the river bank, idol does not move from its place even after several efforts. Finally, it was decided to manufacture a huge Jain temple at the same place.
At that time, Aurangzeb was the Mughal emperor ruling in Delhi. During that period many temples and idols were destructed. But by the approval and assurance of Maharao Kishore Singh Hada of Kota, on Vaishakh Sudi Ashtami(8), V.S.1730, Vaisakh budi shanivaar(saturday), construction work of Jain temple was started. First of all Bhonra (basement) was built and in morning of Magh Sudi Panchami (5), V.S. 1736, main idol was established with proper religious ceremonies. After that also construction work was continued till V.S. 1746. In the same year, KishanDasji Madiya organized a Panchkaklyan Mahotsava in the direction of Bhattarak Pratishthacharya JagatKirtiji. The religious flow of failth which started on that day is in the same form till today. In the central room of temple, still there is a rain of holy water on Akshay tratiya. On 30th Mar, 1979, Wednesday, i.e. Chaitra Budi Ashatami, V.S. 2035 at 7:30, suddenly a stream of water came out of an idol, which resulted in so much amount of water that the candle enlightening also got stopped.
The miracle of Digambar Jain Atishay Kshetra, Chandkheri is difficult or not possible to define in words. This heavenly happiness can be felt by worth seeing it.
