Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil-Ladakh is the leading Shia Religious organization of Ladakh and oldest body of Religious leaders, mainly Ághas and Sheikhs, to be established in the region. The population of the region is mainly Shia Muslim therefore a need for an institution to look over and into the religious matters of the masses was felt and Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil-Ladakh was established. Elections for the executive body were held on 11 September, 2021 and Hojjatul Islam Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi was re-elected as the president for the second time. Subsidiary Organs

1: Ulama Council: It is the chief body of Shia clerics in the district.

2: The institution's sub organ Hawza-e-Ilmiyah Isna Asharia', Kargil is affiliated with the Al-Mustafa International University Qom. It provides religious education to a selected number of students and prepares them for higher religious studies.

3: Jamiat ul Ulama Mashhad office Islamic Republic of Iran, branch of Anjuman Jamiat ul Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil-Ladakh.

4: Jaffaria Academy of Modern Education is a prominent higher secondary school of the region.

5: Makatib e Isna Asharia (Daar ul Quran ) governs and provides Quranic education in seminaries in many villages.

6: Jawadiah Project CARE : It is an educational project to support a selected number of students from poor financial backgrounds and to groom them for various competitive exams.

7: Az-Zahra Girls Orphanage is run by the Jamiat ul Ulama Isna Asharia catering to the orphans of the region.

8: Haye"te Fatimiyah is the women's wing.

9: Isna Asharia Network formally known as Media Cell ISK: It takes care of all the issues pertaining to public and media relations.

JUIAK Ladakh Organises Grand Tiranga Yatra in Kargil

Kargil: 13 August 2026
Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil-Ladakh (JUIAK) organised a grand “Tiranga Yatra – Istehkam-e-Hindustan Rally” in Kargil today, with enthusiastic.

The Tiranga Yatra commenced from Isna Asharia Chowk, Kargil, and passed through the Main Bazaar, Lal Chowk and Circular Road, crossing Fatima Chowk, before concluding at Isna Asharia Chowk. A large number of people joined the procession at different points along the route, adding to the enthusiasm and scale of the rally.
Participants carried the National Flag and raised patriotic slogans, conveying a strong message of national unity, patriotism, communal harmony, and commitment to the unity and integrity of the country.

The Yatra was led by President JUIAK Ladakh, Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi, who was joined by executive members of JUIAK and members of the Ulama Council, Kargil.
Addressing the gathering, Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi said that the country and the National Flag are dearer to them than life itself. He said countless sacrifices had been made for the freedom of the country and for the honour of the Tricolour, and that it is the responsibility of the present generation to remember and honour those sacrifices.

He said the Tiranga Yatra was organised ahead of Independence Day to express love, respect and commitment towards the country and the National Flag. Remembering the sacrifices made by the people of Kargil, soldiers, and citizens across the country for India's freedom, he said the rally was a tribute to all those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

Calling upon both the younger generation and elders to respect and safeguard the Tricolour, Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi said that everyone must remain committed to keeping the National Flag held high. He emphasised that, if requiredpeople should be ready to make sacrifices for the honour and dignity of the National Flag.

He further highlighted India's democratic system as one of the country's greatest strengths and said that the freedom and democracy enjoyed by the people must be preserved collectively. He stressed that safeguarding the Tricolour is also a symbol of safeguarding the nation, its unity, integrity and democratic values.
He said that the people of Kargil have a deep sense of love and commitment towards the country and have historically made significant sacrifices for the nation. He called upon everyone to further strengthen the bonds of unity, harmony and brotherhood and uphold the values represented by the National Flag.

Concluding his address with a patriotic message, Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi recited:
“Aye Khak-e-Watan, Hum Tujhe Ruswa Na Karenge.”
The Tiranga Yatra concluded peacefully at Isna Asharia Chowk, with participants reaffirming their commitment to the nation, the National Flag, unity, democracy and the spirit of patriotism.

JUIAKL Organises Three-Day Majalis-e-Aza to Commemorate the Martyrdom Anniversaries of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH&HP), Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (AS) and Imam Ali al-Reza (AS)

Kargil, 13 August 2026:
Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil-Ladakh (JUIAKL) organised a series of three consecutive Majalis-e-Aza on 27th, 28th and 29th Safar to commemorate the solemn martyrdom anniversaries of the Holy Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH&HP), Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (A.S), the Noble Grandson of the Holy Prophet, and Imam Ali al-Reza (AS), the Eighth Imam of the Ahlulbayt (A.S).

The three-day programme was held with profound religious devotion, spiritual reflection and reverence for the Holy Prophet (PBUH-HP) and his purified Ahlulbayt (AS). The Majalis provided an opportunity for the faithful to remember the immense sacrifices, exemplary lives and enduring teachings of these revered personalities, while renewing their commitment to the path of the Ahlulbayt (AS).

A large number of Ulama, Sadat-e-Kiram, Momineen and Mominat participated in the Majalis and expressed their condolences and heartfelt grief to Imam-e-Zamana, Hazrat Imam Mahdi (AJTF) on the tragic martyrdom of his noble ancestors.

The Majalis were addressed by prominent religious scholars, including Hujjat-ul-Islam wal-Muslimeen Sheikh Mohammad Hussain Majlisi, Hujjat-ul-Islam wal-Muslimeen Sheikh Raza Akhondi, and Hujjat-ul-Islam wal-Muslimeen Sheikh Alam-ul-Huda Zakiri, who delivered detailed sermons highlighting the life, virtues, sacrifices and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH&HP), Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (A.S) and Imam Ali al-Rida (A.S).

The speakers particularly underscored the profound spiritual, moral and social teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUHHP) and the Imams of the Ahlulbayt (A.S), urging the faithful to follow their exemplary conduct and uphold the values of faith, justice, unity, compassion, patience and service to humanity.

The three-day observance concluded with prayers for the steadfastness and guidance of the believers, the unity and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah, and the early reappearance of Imam Mahdi (A.J.T.F).

Final List of Candidates | JUIAK Elections 2026

The Returning Officer for the Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil-Ladakh Elections 2026 has officially announced the final list of candidates following the completion of the nomination and scrutiny process.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammadi has been declared elected unopposed as President, while Syed Mohammad Zia-ud-Deen has been declared elected unopposed as Vice President of JUIAK-Ladakh.

The remaining candidates will contest for the respective positions, with the election scheduled to be held on 17 August 2026.

We extend our best wishes to remaining candidates and pray for a peaceful, transparent and successful electoral process.

AL-REZA Health Care & Research Foundation Conferred with Ladakh State Award for Outstanding Public Service
Grand Reception Accorded to AL-REZA Team on Arrival in Kargil

Kargil, August 12, 2026: A grand reception was accorded to the team of AL-REZA Health Care & Research Foundation (AL-REZA HC & RF), the health wing of Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil-Ladakh (JUIAKL), upon their arrival in Kargil after receiving the prestigious Ladakh State Award for Public Service in recognition of the organisation’s exemplary and sustained contribution to the healthcare sector and public welfare in the Ladakh region.
AL-REZA HC & RF was conferred with the prestigious State Award by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, on August 11, 2026, in recognition of its outstanding public service and dedicated efforts towards improving access to healthcare, particularly for people living in remote and underserved areas of Ladakh.
On the occasion, President JUIAKL, Hujjat-ul-Islam wal-Muslimeen Sheikh Nazir-ul-Mehdi Mohammadi, warmly welcomed the AL-REZA team, led by its President Dr. Mohammad Abbas, and congratulated the entire team on this significant achievement.
Sheikh Nazir-ul-Mehdi appreciated the doctors, paramedics, healthcare professionals and dedicated volunteers associated with AL-REZA HC & RF for their tireless and selfless services in the field of healthcare and humanitarian assistance. He particularly highlighted the organisation’s efforts in conducting medical camps in far-flung and remote areas, organising regular multi-speciality and super-speciality medical camps, blood donation drives, public health awareness programmes, emergency and disaster-response activities, and extending financial assistance to underprivileged patients requiring medical treatment.
He stated that the recognition is not only an honour for AL-REZA HC & RF but also a matter of pride for Jamiat-ul-Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil-Ladakh and the people of Kargil. He observed that the award reflects the dedication, professionalism and spirit of service demonstrated by the doctors, paramedics, volunteers, donors and supporters who have contributed to the organisation’s healthcare and humanitarian initiatives over the years.
Sheikh Nazir-ul-Mehdi Mohammadi expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena, and the successive administrations and officials who have supported and recognised initiatives aimed at strengthening public welfare and healthcare services in the region. He also acknowledged the contributions of Shri Ashish Kundra, IAS, Chief Secretary/Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, the present and former officials of the UT Administration, the Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon, Hon’ble Member of Parliament Ladakh, Haji Mohammad Haneefa Jan, Deputy Commissioner/CEO Kargil, Shri Rakesh Kumar, IAS, former Deputy Commissioners, Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents and other officials of the Health Department and District Administration for their cooperation and recognition of AL-REZA’s public service initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mohammad Abbas, President, AL-REZA HC & RF, congratulated the doctors, paramedics and volunteers of the organisation for their sustained commitment and selfless service to the people, particularly poor and needy patients.
Dr. Abbas expressed gratitude to the generous donors and well-wishers of AL-REZA HC & RF, whose continued support has enabled the organisation to undertake large-scale healthcare initiatives and extend assistance to patients in need. He also acknowledged the valuable support extended by the Ansar-ul-Mehdi volunteers, Al-Mahdi (A.S.) Scouts, Ulema Council, Al-Himalaya Green Mission & Research Centre, and various Shobas (departments/wings) of JUIAKL.
He further expressed appreciation to all those who took time to welcome the AL-REZA team upon their return to Kargil, describing the warm reception as a reflection of the collective appreciation and encouragement of the community for the organisation’s healthcare and humanitarian services.
The leadership of JUIAKL stated that the Ladakh State Award for Public Service is a significant milestone in the journey of AL-REZA HC & RF and would serve as a source of renewed motivation to expand its healthcare, humanitarian and public welfare initiatives across Ladakh.
