Siddhidatri is the ninth form of Goddess and finds worship on the ninth day of Navratri. Siddhidatri has supernatural healing powers. She has four arms and she is always in a blissful happy enchanting pose.

She rides on the lion and blesses all Gods, saints, yogis, tantriks and all devotees as a manifestation of the Mother Goddess.

In ‘Devi Bhagvata Purana’ it is mentioned that Lord Shiva worshipped her and was blessed with all siddhis (supernatural powers). By her blessing, half his body became female and other half male. As a result, the avatar of Ardhnarishvara came into being.

Mahagauri is the avatar of Durga which finds worship on the eighth day of the Navratri. She is worshipped for relief from life’s sufferings and for the fulfillment of wishes.

Her name Mahagauri is made of Maha (great) and gauri (fair or white). Mahagauri has four arms, three eyes and she rides a bull. When the body of Gauri is sullied due to dirt and dust, Shiva himself cleanses her and makes her clean with the waters of Ganga. Her body then becomes bright like lightening and she is known as Mahagauri.

The worship of Mahagauri is believed to give potent results, washing away the sins of devotees.

The seventh of the nine nights of the Navratri is dedicated to Kaalratri, the most fearsome of all avatars. Kaalratri’s name derives from Kaal, meaning time, and Ratri, meaning night.

Kaalratri removes ignorance and destroys the darkness. She has four arms and wields a cleaver and a torch in two of them. Her remaining two hands promise to provide and to protect.

Demonic entities, ghosts, evil spirits all flee from her presence. Kaalratri rides a donkey and blesses the devotee who does not fear her. Her three eyes as well as her nostrils release fire and energy.

Yogis and Sadhus meditate upon her on the seventh day of the Navratri to awaken powers and siddhis. Kaalratri, who killed the bloodborn demon Raktabeej, endows her devotees with calm and courage.

Katyayani is the sixth form of Durga and is worshipped on the sixth day of Navratri. The story behind her name has to do with the sage Katya who wanted a daughter in the form of the mother goddess. His wish was granted and Katyayani was born.

Katyayani rides a lion and has four arms. She carries a lotus and a sword in her right hands and keeps her left hands in the Abhaya and Varada Mudras. Parvati took the form of Katyayani — the most violent form, that of a warrior goddess — to slay Mahishasura. katyayani is also said to govern the planet Brihaspati.

Katyayani has the power to give the husband women pray for. The fast, called Kātyāyanī-vrata is observed for a whole month and offerings such as sandal, flowers, incense are observed.
