Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations is celebrating the of the Sri Sathya Sai Balvikas Movement that was launched by Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in 1969 with a clarion call “The ideal of the Bal Vikas is to raise a generation of boys and girls who have a clean and clear conscience. Bal Vikas is the primary basis of the great movement to restore Dharma in the world. The young minds of children are not polluted and hence they can be led into good ways of living, simplicity, humility and discipline."
What began as a tiny seed in 1969 has now grown into a sturdy tree in 2019 and has now gathered great momentum with 3,50,000 children and nearly 16,000 classes.
Balvikas classes comprise the non-formal education system to inculcate values in the children to mould them into good citizens. These classes are conducted free of cost across the length and breadth of the country including the rural areas by trained balvikas gurus.
The aim of Sri Sathya Sai Balvikas is transformation of the child , fostering in him a keen sense of discrimination and an awareness of his inherent Divinity.
Sri Sathya Sai Balvikas aims to develop the five aspects of child's personality i.e. Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Psychological and Spiritual aspects, by kindling the intrinsic human qualities, thereby achieving a complete, well rounded personality aiming at individual transformation
The goal of the Balvikas movement is societal transformation, transforming self to transform the world. By applying the simple teachings of Balvikas in day to day life, the children are equipped to carry out service activities and spread the message of Bhagavan Baba of love, peace and goodwill.
As a part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, several activities have been launched. ‘Swachhta Se Divyata Tak’ programme wherein outer cleanliness and purity of mind are emphasised and practised nationwide by the children. Feeding of the poor is done on a regular basis to inculcate the habit of giving. To rid the atmosphere of negative thoughts, Vedic Chanting and Bhajans by the children create vibrations of love and promotes peace.
The Sri Sathya Sai Balvikas entails a life-long process of transformation and aims to strengthen the sacred connections between the individual, the family, the society, and all creation.
