‘Bhim Bhirak Cave’ is refuge under a huge rock whose length is 300 ft. In the local dialect ‘Bhidak’ means a place of shelter under a rock. It is a belief that just before the war of Mahabharat, Pandavas, in their period of ‘Agyaatvaasa’ (exile)

had stayed in this cave to hide from their arch eneny, the Korvas. This place is named after the second Pandav brother, Bhim. The main cave is located under this giant rock roof of ‘Bhim Bhirak’. It is a 60 ft. long tunnel of average height ranging from 4 ft. The tunnel ends in a dome shaped circular room, whose diameter is approx. 12 ft and height is 7 ft. An ancient idol, made of metal rich natural stone, is situated here since the era of Mahabharata. Devotees from all over the world arrive here to worship this idol as Goddess Bhagavati, one of the forms of Vaishnavi-Mata, a symbol of strength and celestial energy. Mantra chanting, prayers or even sound of air produces reverberated effects here. Swami Shivananda has been visiting this cave for Tantric-Pooja and vedic-rituals for over two decades. Bhim Bhirak Cave is surrounded by wild-life. You can watch hundreds of wild boars, monkeys (Hanuman Langoors) and bats here. The rocky terrain and the breathtaking view of this place have been savoured by a lot of tourists.
