Heritage Walk by Tata Steel and Centre For Excellence

Hello Jamshedpurians!

The fifth edition of the Heritage Walk by Centre for Excellence will be held on Friday March 29, 2018. Students of standard VII and IX from Premjyoti Prangan, Loyola Project School, MS Andhra Bhakta Ram Mandiram, DBMS Lilliput and Tarapore Balika Vidyalaya will be participating in it.

The initiative from Centre for Excellence is to impart knowledge on the lesser known facts of the city’s heritage buildings and places, culture and tradition.

It helps people who have not spent their entire life in Jamshedpur, know the historical significance of the city.

Total no of participants: 10 + 1 school representative

Class Group: Standard 8 & 9

Schools- Premjyoti Prangan, Loyola Project School, MS Andhra Bhakta Ram Mandiram, DBMS Lilliput and Tarapore Balika Vidyalaya

Even though we didn't make it to the semis, we are still proud of our team for ranking ahead of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, North East and Kerala in our very first year!

Viceroy Chelmsford, speaking at the Director's Bungalow after a visit around town [January 1919]: "I wanted to come here to express my appreciation of the great work that has been done by the Tata Company during the last four years of this war (First World War 1914-18). I can hardly imagine what we should have done...if the Tata Company had not been able to give us steel rails which have been provided for us not only in Mesopotamia, but in Egypt, Palestine and East Africa....

This place will see a change in its name and will no longer be known as Sakchi but will be identified with the name of the founder, Mr. Jamshedji Tata. Hereforth, this place will be known by the name of Jamshedpur."
