A cow used to shed her milk on the naturally formed lingam. The owner of the cow got surprised when he would find the cow without milk daily. He once followed her to catch hold of the person who would milk her and steal the milk .It was a surprise to him to watch what the cow was doing. He brought his axe and tried to break the stone but was able to break away a big chip out of the lingam. He had

later to face lots of deaths and misfortunes in his family.The temple is revered all over Jammu and people from far off places come here to have darshans A big mela takes place on Shivratri.
