As Chaitra Navratri 2026 unfolds alongside the renewal of spring, we at Paramsthaan Baba Ramdas Ji Maharaj (Village Ghurial, District Jalandhar) invite you all into a sacred journey that unfolds gradually across nine divine nights wherein the Divine Mother reveals Herself through the Navadurga and as each of Her divine forms represents a stage in the evolution of the true seeker and disciple.
We begin with Maa Shailaputri, reminding us to root ourselves in stability and humility, for no spiritual journey can begin without grounding. This is the awakening and ascension from the very foundation of our being. Maa Brahmacharini then calls us toward the quiet heated discipline (tapas) through which our intentions are purified and inner energy is refined. As days progress, Maa Chandraghanta awakens courage within us, and Maa Kushmanda reveals the creative light that exists at the heart of all life, reminding us that Shakti is the vital and all-pervading force through which creation expresses itself.
In Maa Skandamata, devotion matures into compassion and responsibility, and through Maa Katyayani, it transforms into righteous action; the courage to stand for what is just, both within ourselves and in the world. His Holiness Baba Ramdas Ji Maharaj has taught us that devotion is incomplete unless it expresses itself in conduct. Then comes Maa Kalaratri, the most transformative moment in this journey, where the seeker encounters the primal power that dissolves time, fear, and limitation itself, revealing that what appears as darkness is but the veiling of consciousness, which is to be recognized, absorbed, and transmuted into pure awareness.
From this purification arises the grace of Maa Mahagauri, a state of inner peace and refinement, where the mind becomes still and transparent. And finally, in Maa Siddhidatri the journey culminates in a realization that the Divine is not separate from us, but the very essence of our being and that Self/consciousness and Shakti/power are inseparable, like fire and its ability to burn
His Holiness Baba Ramdas Ji Maharaj teaches us that this unfolding is not only philosophical, as the Divine is not distant or reserved for the learned, but is accessible through sincerity, humility, realization and love. Baba ji emphasized that true devotion must dissolve ego and extend beyond ritual into the way we live and relate to others. In this light, the journey of Navratri becomes not just inward realization, but outward expression through which societal upliftment may occur. For, to worship Shakti is also to recognize Her presence in all beings, and to act with compassion and responsibility, as devotion must naturally flow into steadfast action, kindness, and the courage to uplift others.
As we observe these nine sacred nights, we pray before Maa AdiShakti and His Holiness Baba Ramdas Ji Maharaj that may these nine nights allow our prayers to become more sincere, our awareness to become more steady, and our actions to become more aligned with the values we seek to cultivate.
