देवताओं और दैत्यों के बीच अंतर.

जीवों के दो वर्ग होते हैं–दैत्य और देवता–और भगवान का परम व्यक्तित्व दोनों के ऊपर होता है. दैत्य उत्पत्ति की “संयोग” वाली धारणा में विश्वास करते हैं, जबकि देवता भगवान के परम व्यक्तित्व द्वारा जगत उत्पत्ति में विश्वास करते हैं. परम भगवान के सर्वशक्तिमान होने को यहाँ सिद्ध किया गया है, क्योंकि केवल एक हाथ से उन्होंने मंदार पर्वत, देवता और दैत्यों को उठा लिया था, और उन्हें गरुड़ की पीठ पर रख दिया था और उन्हें क्षीर सागर ले आए थे. अब, देवताओं, भक्त तो इस घटना को स्वीकार कर लेंगे, यह जानते हुए कि भगवान कुछ भी उठा सकते हैं भले ही वह कितना भी भारी हो. किंतु भले ही दैत्यों को भी देवताओं के साथ ही लाया गया था, इस घटना के बारे में सुनकर वे यही कहेंगे कि यह मिथकीय है. लेकिन यदि भगवान सर्वशक्तिमान हैं, तो किसी पर्वत को उठा लेना उनके लिए क्यों कठिन होगा? चूँकि वे सैकड़ों और सहस्त्रों मंदार पर्वतों के साथ असंख्य ग्रहों को चला रहे हैं, तो वे उनमें से एक को अपने हाथ से क्यों नहीं उठा सकते? यह मिथक नहीं है, बल्कि आस्थावानों और आस्थाहीन लोगों के बीच अंतर यह है कि भक्तजन वैदिक साहित्य में वर्णित घटनाओं को सत्य मानते हैं, जबकि दैत्य बस कुतर्क करते हैं और इन ऐतिहासिक घटनाओं को मिथक बताते हैं. दैत्य यही समझाना चाहेंगे कि जगत उत्पत्ति में होने वाला सब कुछ संयोगवश होता है, किंतु देवता, या भक्त, किसी भी घटना को संयोग नहीं मानते. बल्कि, वे जानते हैं कि सब कुछ भगवान के परम व्यक्तित्व की व्यवस्था है. यही देवताओं और दैत्यों के बीच का अंतर है.

The difference between the demigods and the demons.

There are two classes of living entities–the demons and the demigods–and the Supreme Personality of Godhead is above them both. The demons believe in the “chance” theory of creation, whereas the demigods believe in creation by the hand of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The omnipotence of the Supreme Lord is proved here, for simply with one hand He lifted Mandara Mountain, the demigods and the demons, placed them on the back of Garuda and brought them to the ocean of milk. Now, the demigods, the devotees, would immediately accept this incident, knowing that the Lord can lift anything, however heavy it might be. But although demons were also carried along with the demigods, demons, upon hearing of this incident, would say that it is mythological. But if God is all-powerful, why would it be difficult for Him to lift a mountain? Since He is floating innumerable planets with many hundreds and thousands of Mandara Mountains, why can’t He lift one of them with His hand? This is not mythology, but the difference between the believers and the faithless is that the devotees accept the incidents mentioned in the Vedic literatures to be true, whereas the demons simply argue and label all these historical incidents mythology. Demons would prefer to explain that everything happening in the cosmic manifestation takes place by chance, but demigods, or devotees, never consider anything to be chance. Rather, they know that everything is an arrangement of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. That is the difference between the demigods and the demons.

भगवान का नाम कृष्ण क्यों है?

वास्तव में भगवान का कोई विशिष्ट नाम नहीं है. ऐसा कहते हुए कि उनका कोई नाम नहीं है, हमारा आशय है कि उनके कितने नाम हैं यह कोई नहीं जानता. चूंकि भगवान असीमित हैं, उनके नाम भी असीमित होने चाहिए. इसलिए हम किसी एक नाम पर नहीं टिक सकते. उदाहरण के लिए, कृष्ण को कई बार यशोदा नंदन, माँ यशोदा का पुत्र, कहा जाता है; या देवकी नंदन, देवकी का पुत्र; या वासुदेव नंदन, वासुदेव का पुत्र; या नंद नंदन, नंद का पुत्र. कई बार उन्हें पार्थ-सारथी पुकारा जाता है, जिससे सूचित होता है कि उन्होंने अर्जुन के सारथी की भूमिका निभाई थी, जिन्हें कभी-कभी पार्थ, पृथ के पुत्र कहा जाता है. भगवान के अपने कई भक्तों से कई व्यवहार होते हैं, और उन व्यवहारों के अनुसार, उन्हें विशिष्ट नाम से पुकारा जाता है. चूंकि उनके असंख्य भक्त और उनके साथ असंख्य संबंध हैं, उनके असंख्य नाम भी हैं. हम किसी एक नाम पर ही नहीं रह सकते. लेकिन कृष्ण नाम का अर्थ “सबसे आकर्षक” है. भगवान सभी को आकर्षित करते हैं; यह भगवान की परिभाषा है. हम कृष्ण के कई चित्र देख चुके हैं और हम देखते हैं कि कृष्ण गायों, बछड़ों, पशुओं, पेड़, पौधों और यहाँ तक की वृंदावन में पानी तक को आकर्षित करते हैं. वे गौ चराने वाले बालकों, गोपियों, नंद महाराज, पांडवों, और समस्त मानव समाज के लिए आकर्षक हैं. इसलिए यदि भगवान को कोई विशिष्ट नाम दिया जा सकता है तो वो “कृष्ण” है. कुछ लोग कहते हैं कि भगवान का कोई नाम नहीं है – कि हम उन्हें केवल “पिता” बुला सकते हैं.

Why God name is Krishna?

Actually, God has no particular name. By saying He has no name, we mean that no one knows how many names He has. Since God is unlimited, His names also must be unlimited. Therefore we cannot settle on one name. For instance, Krishna is sometimes called Yasoda-Nandana, the son of mother Yasoda; or Devaki-Nandan, the son of Devaki; or Vasudeva-Nandana, the son of Vasudeva; or Nanda-Nandana, the son of Nanda. Sometimes He is called Partha-sarathi, indicating that He acted as the charioteer of Arjuna, who is sometimes called Partha, the son of Prtha.

विशुद्ध भक्ति सेवा के लक्षण.

आध्यात्मिक जीवन के प्रारंभिक चरण में आत्म साक्षात्कार के लिए विभिन्न प्रकार के संयम, तप, और समान प्रक्रियाएँ होती हैं. यद्यपि, इन प्रक्रियाओं का निष्पादनकर्ता किसी भी भौतिक लालसा से रहित होता है, फिर भी वह आध्यात्मिक सेवा अर्जित नहीं कर सकता. और भक्ति सेवा अर्जित करने के लिए स्वयं ही आकांक्षा करना भी बहुत आशाजनक नहीं होती क्योंकि कृष्ण किसी भी व्यक्ति को भक्ति सेवा देना स्वीकार नहीं करते. कृष्ण सरलता से किसी व्यक्ति को भौतिक सुख या मुक्ति प्रदान कर सकते हैं, लेकिन वे किसी व्यक्ति को अपनी भक्ति सेवा में रखने के लिए सरलता से स्वीकृति नहीं देते. भक्ति सेवा वास्तव में एक शुद्ध भक्त की दया के माध्यम से ही प्राप्त की जा सकती है. चैतन्य-चरितामृत में कहा गया है: “आध्यात्मिक गुरु की दया से, जो एक शुद्ध भक्त होता है और कृष्ण की दया से व्यक्ति भक्ति सेवा के स्तर को प्राप्त कर सकता है. अन्य कोई मार्ग नहीं है.” भक्ति सेवा के लक्षण रूप गोस्वामी द्वारा विभिन्न धर्मग्रंथों के साक्ष्य के साथ वर्णित किए गए हैं. वे कहते हैं कि विशुद्ध भक्ति सेवा की छः विशेषताएँ हैं, जो इस प्रकार हैं. 1) शुद्ध भक्ति सेवा सभी प्रकार के भौतिक संकटों से तत्काल राहत दिलाती है. 2) शुद्ध भक्ति सेवा समस्त शुभता का प्रारंभ है. 3) शुद्ध भक्ति सेवा व्यक्ति को स्वतः ही पारलौकिक आनंद में स्थित कर देती है. 4) शुद्ध भक्ति सेवा बिरले ही प्राप्त होती है. 5) शुद्ध भक्ति सेवा रत रहने वाले मुक्ति की धारणा का उपहास करते हैं. 6) कृष्ण को आकर्षित करने का एकमात्र साधन शुद्ध भक्ति सेवा ही है. कृष्ण सर्व-आकर्षक हैं, किंतु शुद्ध भक्ति सेवा उन को भी आकर्षित करती है. इसका अर्थ है कि शुद्ध भक्ति सेवा पारलौकिक रूप से स्वयं कृष्ण से भी शक्तिशाली है, क्योंकि वह कृष्ण का शाश्वत पौरुष है.

Characteristics of pure devotional service.

In the preliminary phase of spiritual life there are different kinds of austerities, penances and similar processes for attaining self-realization. However, even if an executor of these processes is without any material desire, he still cannot achieve devotional service. And aspiring by oneself alone to achieve devotional service is also not very hopeful because Krishna does not agree to award devotional service to merely anyone. Krishna can easily offer a person material happiness or even liberation, but He does not agree very easily to award a person engagement in His devotional service.

निरंतर स्मरण उसी के लिए संभव है जो हमेशा भगवान कृष्ण की महिमा का जाप करता है और उसका श्रवण करता है।

व्यक्ति को ऐस नहीं सोचना चाहिए कि वह भगवान की उपासना में यांत्रिक रूप से संलग्न होकर कृष्ण के संपूर्ण पारलौकिक ज्ञान को अर्जित कर सकता है। यहाँ भगवान कृष्ण कहते हैं कि व्यक्ति को अपने चित्त में भगवान को निरंतर रखने का प्रयास करना चाहिए। अनुस्मरतः, या निरंतर स्मरण, ऐसे व्यक्ति के लिए संभव है जो सदैव भगवान की कृष्ण की महिमाओं का जाप और श्रवण करता है। इसलिए कहा गया है, श्रवणम, कीर्तनम, स्मरणम: भक्ति सेवा की प्रक्रिया सुनने (श्रवणम) और जाप (कीर्तनम) से प्रारंभ होती है, जिससे स्मरण (स्मरणम) विकसित होता है। जो व्यक्ति भौतिक संतुष्टि की वस्तुओं के बारे में लगातार विचार करता है वह उनसे आसक्त हो जाता है; उसी प्रकार, भगवान को निरंतर अपने चित्त में रखने वाला व्यक्ति भगवान की पारलौकिक प्रकृति में लीन हो जाता है और इर प्रकार भगवान के स्वयं के धाम में उनकी व्यक्तिगत सेवा को निष्पादित करने के योग्य बन जाता है।

Constant remembrance is possible for one who always chants and hears the glories of Lord Krishna.

One should not think that one can attain complete transcendental knowledge of Kṛṣṇa by mechanically engaging in worship of the Lord. Lord Kṛṣṇa states here that one must endeavor constantly to keep the Lord within one’s mind. Anusmarataḥ, or constant remembrance, is possible for one who always chants and hears the glories of Lord Kṛṣṇa. It is therefore stated, śravaṇam, kīrtanam, smaraṇam: the process of devotional service begins with hearing (śravaṇam) and chanting (kīrtanam), from which remembrance (smaraṇam) develops. One who constantly thinks of the objects of material gratification becomes attached to them; similarly, one who constantly keeps Lord Kṛṣṇa within his mind becomes absorbed in the Lord’s transcendental nature and thus becomes qualified to render personal service to the Lord in His own abode.

संसार के लोकतांत्रिक राष्ट्रों के लोगों को कृष्ण चैतन्य नेताओं का चुनाव करना चाहिए.

“इन दिनों, पश्चिमी देशों में सरकारें लोकतांत्रिक विधि से चुनी जाती हैं, और इस प्रकार जनसमूह अपने नेताओं की नियति के साथ पहचाना जाता है. जब अहंकारी नेता हिंसा में लिप्त होते हैं, तो वही लोग ऐसे युद्धकारी निर्णयों का आघात भुगतते हैं जिन्होंने उन्हें चुना है. अतः संसार के लोकतांत्रिक राष्ट्रों में लोगों को कृष्ण चैतन्य नेताओं का चुनाव करना चाहिए, जो भगवान के नियमों के अनुरूप प्रशासन स्थापित करेंगे. यदि वे ऐसा करने में विफल रहते हैं, तो उनके भौतिकवादी नेता, परम भगवान की इच्छा से अनभिज्ञ, निःसंदेह प्रलयकारी घटनाओं द्वारा दंडित होंगे, और वे लोग भी अपने नेताओं के कृत्यों के लिए उत्तरदायी होने के कारण, कष्ट साझा करेंगे, जिन्होंने ऐसे नेताओं को चुना है. यह विडंबना है कि आधुनिक लोकतंत्रों में नेता न केवल स्वयं को सार्वभौमिक नियंत्रक मानते हैं, बल्कि लोगों का जनसमूह, नेताओं को भगवान के प्रतिनिधियों की अपेक्षा केवल अपना प्रतिनिधि मानता है, लोगों के रूप में भी, स्वयं को अपने राष्ट्र का नियंत्रक समझता है. इस प्रकार इस श्लोक में वर्णित ताड़ना आधुनिक संसार में सामान्य लोगों के लिए अभूतपूर्व रूप से लागू हो गई है.

आधुनिक मनुष्य को अपने अहंकारी पद से पतित होकर स्वयं को केवल प्रकृति का पाठ भर नहीं बनाना चाहिए; बल्कि उसे विनम्रतापूर्वक भगवान, परम सत्य, श्री कृष्ण के सर्व-आकर्षक व्यक्तित्व की इच्छा को पूरा करना चाहिए, और पवित्रता, शांति और व्यापक ज्ञान के एक नए युग का प्रारंभ करना चाहिए.”

The people in the democratic nations of the world should elect Krishna concious leaders.

“Nowadays, governments in the Western countries tend to be elected democratically, and thus the mass of people become identified with the destiny of their leaders. When the proud leaders engage in violence, the people who elected them bear the brunt of such belligerent decisions. Thus the people in the democratic nations of the world should elect Kṛṣṇa conscious leaders, who will establish an administration consonant with the laws of God. If they fail to do so, their materialistic leaders, oblivious of the will of the Supreme Lord, will undoubtedly be chastised by cataclysmic events, and the people, who elected such leaders, being responsible for their leaders’ acts, will share in the suffering.

It is ironic that in modern democracies not only do the leaders consider themselves universal controllers, but the mass of people, considering the leaders merely their representatives rather than the representatives of God, also consider themselves, as a people, to be the controllers of their nation. Thus the chastisement mentioned in this verse has become unprecedentedly applicable to people in general in the modern world.

Modern man should not simply make himself a lesson of nature by falling down from his proud position; rather he should submissively execute the will of the all-attractive Personality of Godhead, the Absolute Truth, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, and usher in a new era of sanity, tranquillity and widespread enlightenment.”

संतुष्टि के बिना व्यक्ति सुखी नहीं हो सकता भले ही उसके पास संसार भर की संपत्ति हो.

वैदिक संस्कृति या ब्राम्हण संस्कृति व्यक्ति को न्यूनतम जीवनोपयोगी वस्तुओं के साथ संतुष्ट रहने की विधि सिखाती है. इस उच्चतम संस्कृति की शिक्षा देने के लिए, वर्णाश्रम-धर्म का अनुमोदन किया गया है. वर्णाश्रण वर्गीकरण– ब्राम्हण, क्षत्रिय, वैश्य, शूद्र, ब्रम्हचर्य, गृहस्थ, वानप्रस्थ और सन्यास– का उद्देश्य व्यक्ति को इंद्रियों को नियंत्रित करना और न्यूनतम वस्तुओं के साथ संतुष्ट होना सिखाना है. एक आदर्श ब्रम्हचारी के रूप में, भगवान वामनदेव बाली महाराज द्वारा उन्हें मनचाही वस्तु देने के प्रस्ताव को ठुकरा देते हैं.
