The founder of Arya Samaj, Maharishi Dayanand Sarswati visited Indore twice in his life span. Indore naresh at that time, maharaj tukojirav holkar II wanted to meet him and wanted to see him at Indore. Swami ji first visited indore in paush samwat 1938 (1881 BC) but Indore naresh had to go out of town for some reason and couldn’t meet swami ji then. The staff of indore naresh did a splendid job we
lcoming swami ji to the town. Swami ji stayed in indore for a week giving religious teachings and then he left for Mumbai and visited indore again next year. On his next visit to indore, indore naresh extended his hospitality to maharishi and welcomed him in lal bagh palace. During this visit, swami ji inspired the people of indore to establish an arya Samaj in the town and then he left for Udaipur. Finally, on maghshukl 4, tuesday 1944 vs (January 17, 1888 BC) arya Samaj indore was inaugurated by Paramhans Swami vishveshwaranand saraswath and brahmchari nityanand ji at the residence of Dr. Govind rao sharma Chaskar. Its founder pillars were Late Pt shambhu ll sharma (Teacher in daily college) the fater of late shri harish Chandra sharma), Dr bharow Prasad sharma, Dr lalbhai rawal, Seth ghnshyanmdass gupt, shri gn kirkare, motiram verma, biharilal sharma AND GHOJHERAM Chandra sharma.
