After the completion of her Masters, ’Aalimah Ayesha was involved in giving lectures and in Da’wah activities for about six years. During the course of these efforts which were conducted in various Muslim communities, she became keenly aware of the lack
of correct Islamic knowledge and the widespread prevalence of innovative practices (Bid’ah) and polytheism (Shirk) amongst the women and young. She sensed the need to create a permanent institution that would impart education to the Muslim women in South India; an institution that would be based on methodology of the Salaf (the Righteous Predecessors) in order to disseminate knowledge of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) as understood by the Prophet’s Companions and the Salaf. The objective being that the correct understanding of Tawheed (the Oneness of Allah) and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (p.b.u.h.) become common knowledge and the foundation for societal change that permeates Muslim homes. This would then create a drive amongst the Muslims to hold fast to the Qur’aan and the Sunnah. Only then would it lead to the stemming of the tide of various deviant sects, ideas and practices that threaten to corrupt the Muslim Ummah today.
