The Black Stone, known in Arabic as al-Hajar al-Aswad, is an ancient, revered Islamic relic set into the eastern corner of the sacred Kaaba in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Muslims believe the stone dates back to the time of Adam and Eve and was later placed in the wall by the Prophet Muhammad. During the ritual pilgrimage known as the Hajj, pilgrims strive to kiss or touch al-Hajar al-Aswad as an act of devotion, following the tradition of the Prophet.
