NOTHING CAN CHANGE YOUR INHERITANCE

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new". (2 Corinthians 5:17)

We have received an eternal inheritance (Heb. 9:15) that cannot be taken away. Your inheritance is not temporary; it’s eternal. You aren’t disinherited and you don’t lose the benefits of being part of the family because of sin. To understand this, you have to see yourself as God sees you. In your born-again spirit, you are as clean and holy and pure as Jesus is. Religion has you looking at your flesh. It has you searching the soulish realm of thoughts, attitudes, and feelings. But that is not what God is looking at. He is looking at your spirit, the part of you that’s become a new creation.

What part of you is new? It’s not the flesh and it’s not the soul; it’s your born-again spirit. When you go to God in prayer and say “O God, I’m so ungodly and so unworthy, please forgive me, please answer my prayer,” you are not in the spirit; you are in the flesh. Your spirit is righteous, holy, and pure. Sin does not affect your spirit.

Maturity in the Christian life isn’t about trying to grow your spirit up; it’s trying to educate, or renew, your mind to what you already have in your spirit. Your spirit is already perfect! You already have the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, long-suffering, and the rest. Your spirit is always happy, always rejoicing, and always healthy.

God loves you even though you’ve messed up, even though you aren’t perfect. He loves you not because of your performance but because of Jesus’ sacrifice. If you can ever get a revelation of what I am teaching, it will change the way you see God forever.

FACE YOUR GIANT THROUGH GOD’S PROMISES

"What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?" (1 Samuel 17:26)

Whatever problem you’re facing today—whether in your finances, in your health, in your marriage, or wherever—your problem is not bigger than what David faced. He had to deal with a real, live giant. And the qualities God instilled in David that enabled him to succeed will work for you too. You’ve probably heard the story of David defeating Goliath, but have you applied these same principles to your giant? One of the foundational truths that enabled David to face this giant was that he viewed the whole situation through God’s covenant.

David’s reference to Goliath being uncircumcised was pointing out that Goliath didn’t have any covenant rights like he did. In fact, every Israelite soldier was one of God’s covenant people, but they didn’t act like it. Likewise, all true believers have covenant rights to health, prosperity, joy, peace, etc., but not all look at their circumstances through the covenant.

These Israelite soldiers were looking at Goliath and not at God’s promises . The Lord had promised them that no man would be able to stand before them (Deut. 11:25). Goliath was a man. He was a big man but a man nonetheless. While others only saw the giant, David kept his attention on the promises of God. David’s victory over Goliath catapulted him into his destiny. Likewise, whatever giant you are facing can become the greatest victory in your life as you stand on God’s Word and overcome it.

FOCUS ON WHAT’S AHEAD

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus". (Philippians 3:13-14)

Paul wrote this toward the end of his life and ministry. He had served the Lord as few ever have, before or since. He was used of the Lord to take the Gospel to the Gentiles and write half of the books of the New Testament. Yet he still hadn’t arrived. The truth is, none of us totally arrive in this life; we just leave and start moving in the direction the Lord has for us. Our journey won’t be complete until we enter into eternity. Paul was still pressing toward the mark the Lord had set for his life at the very end. The perfect will of God isn’t a destination but a journey.

We are all moving through this life and are headed in some direction. We are either getting closer to accomplishing God’s perfect will for our lives or wasting the most valuable possession the Lord has given us—time . There isn’t any other alternative. There is no such thing as just marking time. We can’t get time back. Each day is a precious gift that will never come our way again. So many people are just going through life without knowing for sure that they are moving in the direction that the Lord wants them to go. That’s not the way Paul was.

What are your goals? Are they aligned with what the Lord planned for your life when He wrote all your days in His book before you were born. Make today count, knowing this is the first day of the rest of your life. You can’t change your destination overnight. Lay aside whatever distractions or weights are holding you back and pursue the Lord’s will with all of your heart. You will find it if you seek with all your heart (Jer. 29:13).

THE KEY TO OVERCOMING DOUBT

"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God". (Romans 10:17)

Many of us have Bibles lying around gathering dust. Some of us even carry one. But when we’re struggling with unbelief, we don’t want a scripture; we want something tangible, something emotional that we can feel. We would rather have Jesus just put His arm around us and say something about how everything will be all right. That would make us feel better. But overcoming doubt isn’t just about feeling better; it’s about getting back into faith that only comes from the Word of God (Rom. 10:17).

Jesus sent the Word back with John’s disciples. He knew this would stir up John’s spirit to overcome the doubt. Peter understood this about faith when he wrote about it in 2 Peter 1:12-15. Peter was stating how important it was for his words to be received as they were, in truth, the Word of God (1 Thess. 2:13). To prove to them that these were not just fables he made up, Peter refers to the time they were with Jesus on the mountain. They saw Jesus shine as the brightness of the sun. The Shekinah glory cloud of God overshadowed them all, and they heard an audible voice out of heaven say, “This is my beloved Son: hear him” (Mark 9:7). They also saw Moses and Elijah talking with Jesus. That is pretty impressive!

But Peter went on to say in 2 Peter 1:19, “We have also a more sure word of prophecy.” What could possibly be more sure than all these supernatural signs? Peter gives that answer in the next verse when he talks about the Scriptures (2 Pet. 1:20). He explains that the Scriptures are more reliable and contain more faith-building, doubt destroying power than seeing Jesus transfigured or hearing an audible voice from heaven. Hallelujah!

The only sure way to overcome doubt is to place your faith in the Word of God and depend on that “more sure word of prophecy.” Don’t allow your five senses to dominate your thinking. You must come to a place to where God’s Word is more real to you than anything you can see, taste, hear, smell, or feel. When you’re in doubt, refer back to the Word of God just the way Jesus told John the Baptist to do. Remember, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word.

LOVE GOD, LOVE OTHERS

“We love him, because he first loved us. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.” (1 John 4:19-21)

Many of us are praying for healing, deliverance, and prosperity. We want joy, peace, and happiness in our homes. We want better relationships with family and friends, especially during the Christmas season. However, the answer to seeing these needs and desires met is all wrapped up in receiving God’s love and then walking in that love toward others.

Once you understand just how much He loves you, it’s not hard to love Him with all your heart, soul, and mind and to love others as yourself. Yet, many claim to love God and still don’t walk in love toward others. If someone says they love God but harbor hate and resentment toward others, they are lying. We need to understand that this is the truth and begin to allow God’s love to flow through us to others, including those we don’t like and those who have hurt us.

The greatest thing any of us can do is to love God and to love people. That is the number one thing that God has given us to do. Until this becomes the focus of our lives, we are not going to benefit from His love working in us, and we will give Satan a tremendous inroad.

YOU ALREADY HAVE THE FAITH YOU NEED

"When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel."(Matthew 8:10)

Our Lord did say that He had never seen such great faith as the centurion manifested (Matt. 8:10), and He also spoke of His disciple’s little faith (Matt. 8:26), but He was speaking about how much faith He saw. None of us use all the faith we’ve been given. In that sense, some do have more faith than others, but technically, it is more faith that is being exhibited or that is functional. We all have been given THE measure of faith.

This is a major truth that will totally change your attitude and the results that your faith produces. Most people don’t doubt that faith works. They just doubt that they have enough faith to get the job done. If Satan can blind you to this truth, then he can keep you from using the faith you have. Understanding this truth will radically change things.

Philemon 1:6 says, “That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.” Notice that Paul isn’t praying that Philemon will get something more from the Lord. He was praying that his faith would begin to work as he acknowledged what he already had. The word “acknowledge” means, “to admit, recognize, or report the receipt of.” You can only acknowledge something that you already have. We already have the faith of God, and it will begin to work when we acknowledge this.

The more you know about faith and how it works, the better it will work for you. If all you knew was that you have the same faith Jesus has, then that would remove hopelessness and motivate you. People would eventually see results if they just kept trying, but they give up easily because they believe they don’t have what it takes. That is not true. The Lord has given us everything we need, including all the faith we need. We just need to acknowledge what we have and begin to learn the laws that govern the operation of God’s faith.

GOD LOVES YOU UNCONDITIONALLY

We love him, because he first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19

The majority of churches are teaching that God’s love for us is conditional. They are misrepresenting His love, and it is one of the main reasons that we as Christians are so judgmental and harsh toward other people . Consciously or not, we tend to treat people the way we believe God is treating us.

We must understand that God does not love us because we are lovely. He does not love us because we read the Bible, go to church, pay our tithes, or do our best to keep the command to love others as He loved us. The truth is, He loves us without conditions. That’s huge!

The original purpose of all creation was to give God pleasure. And that is still God’s purpose. Adam and Eve were created for fellowship with God . He wanted someone to love and for them to voluntarily love Him back. It’s About Relationship, Not Religion. God’s purpose for creating human beings was all about relationship. But religion has succeeded at turning us from human beings into human doings. When that becomes the focus, we begin to tie God’s love for us to something that we do for Him. I did! But that was never His plan.

Once you begin to understand how much God loves you, love will flow out of you toward others like rivers of living water. Ultimately, Jesus is the answer, and His love for you is the key.

HIS PURPOSE HAS NOT CHANGED

"Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them". (Psalm 139:16)

Notice the first part of this verse where God saw our “substance, yet being unperfect.” The literal meaning of the Hebrew word golem, which was translated “unperfect,” literally means, “a wrapped (and unformed mass, i.e. as the embryo).” When you were still in the embryonic stage, the Lord saw your substance.

Compare that with Hebrews 11:1, which says, “…faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” So, it was God’s faith that produced your substance while you were still an embryo in your mother’s womb. The Lord has never created a failure or someone to merely exist, and He never will. His plans for you are awesome!

Romans 11:29 says, “…the gifts and callings of God are without repentance.” That means that God’s purpose for your life never changes. Just as a GPS device takes whatever wrong turn we make and recalculates to get us back on track, the Lord can take whatever mess we’ve made of things and use it for His glory (Rom. 8:28).

Ask the Lord today to show you His original plan for you and then expect Him to reveal it. If you are already following His will, then ask Him to show you where you are along that path. We need to keep His original vision in front of us and not turn to the right or left. Examine yourself to see if you are where He wants you to be (2 Cor. 13:5). He is willing and able to help you make any corrections necessary.

GET GOD’S PLAN

"And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it". (Habakkuk 2:2)

Most people want to start leadership with vision. But if your relationship with God is deficient, if you aren’t truly humble, if you don’t have character and integrity, and if you aren’t listening to God’s voice, vision won’t matter .

Even if God showed you His vision for your life, you’d ruin the whole thing if you went out and tried to do it your way. There are so many examples of this. Not only can we read about these things in the Word of God, but I could give example after example of people I knew personally who went ahead of God.

These were people who had a word from the Lord, but they didn’t put their relationship with God first . They took a word and made a paragraph out of it. They decided that they were going to implement God’s plans the way that they wanted to.

Vision should be a byproduct of your relationship with God, not something that you think of, and then ask God to put His blessing on.

GOD IS PREPARING YOU

"And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him [Moses] in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush". ( Acts 7:30)

Moses’ burning bush experience happened forty years after he tried to bring deliverance to the Jews in his own strength and by his own wisdom. If you couple this together with Genesis 15:13 and Exodus 12:40, it becomes clear that when Moses killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand (Ex. 2:12), he was ten years premature in trying to accomplish the Jews’ exodus from Egypt.

So, Moses not only missed the way God wanted to deliver the Jews, but he also missed the timing. There is a time element to everything the Lord wants to accomplish in your life. It’s not always a certain date, but there are things that must be worked in us before the Lord opens the doors for us.

The Lord loves us so much that He won’t put us in a position we aren’t prepared to occupy. He loves us more than what we can do for Him, so He is patient, waiting for us to mature to a place where we can handle the pressures that come with the promotion. Our delays are often related to our immaturity. That’s probably why the Lord revealed His will to Moses ten years before it was time for him to accomplish it. It takes time to grow into the position the Lord has for us. Impatience won’t get us to the finish line any quicker, but our impatience can delay God’s plans for us. In Moses’ case, it cost him forty years in the wilderness, and it cost the children of Israel thirty years of extra bo***ge.

The quickest way to get into God’s perfect will doesn’t involve shortcuts, but rather, total commitment to the Lord’s will, plan, and timing. If we are seeking the Lord first and foremost, He will get us to the desired location quicker than we can ever get there on our own. Realign your sights on the Lord today and know that He is working to perfect the work begun in you (Phil. 1:6).
