ord Gatka basically represents the name of stick which is used to practice the sword fighting. In 1699 when Guru Gobind Singh ji, 10 Master of Sikhs found the Khalsa panth , they set a package of rules and regulation for every Sikh and to be a warrior and practice this martial art is one of them. In Zafarnama Guru Gobind Singh Ji wrote:

“ When all other means have failed, it is proper to take a sword in one’ s hand “


Along with that Guru Sahib Make sure that this marital art is used only for defense purpose, also instruct strictly that never put sword on women, children, unarmed, innocent and helpless people in any mean. Guru Gobind Singh ji said:

“ Khalsa lived poised in swords`s sharp edge and he kissed its cold steel. Indeed Iron had gone into his soul at this nativity. But it would be great mistake to associate the Khalsa with the wanton wars and bloodshed. He took to the sword because of crisis of scruples.”

Being a Khalsa, everyone having responsibly to take a stand for poor, worship Akaal Purak, Abandon superstition, defend every one`s religion and this thing is symbolized by Kirpan as well, One of five kakars that every baptized Sikh should carry.
