Rissa Lalrokhum Varte Becomes First Player from Dima Hasao to Achieve International FIDE Blitz Rating
Rissa earned an impressive FIDE Blitz Rating of 1718 following his outstanding performance at the 4th Tulsi Misra Memorial Blitz Rating Chess Tournament, held in Silchar, Assam, on 5th July, 2026. The tournament was organised by the Cachar District Chess Association under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation (AICF) and the World Chess Federation (FIDE).
This achievement marks another significant milestone in Rissa's rapidly progressing chess career. It is noteworthy that he was already an internationally rated player in the FIDE Rapid format, and with this latest accomplishment, he has further strengthened his credentials as one of the most promising chess players from the district.
Rissa has also been in excellent form in recent local tournaments. He emerged as the Champion of the Trivia Fest Chess Tournament 2026, organised by HELP Society, Haflong, and secured the 1st Runner-Up position in the Dima Hasao Chess Open 2026, organised by the Dima Hasao Sports Association. These consistent performances reflect his dedication, discipline, and continuous improvement in competitive chess.
His achievement is expected to inspire many young chess enthusiasts in Dima Hasao to pursue the sport with renewed enthusiasm and determination.
