This selfless work reflects the profound values of loving-kindness, compassion and non-harm towards all sentient beings.

Compassion is the true practice of Dharma.

With great joy and devotion, we warmly invite all devotees, practitioners, and well-wishers to participate in the 14th Leudun Bumther Monlam Chenmo, our annual sacred prayer gathering at Sangchen Pemayangtse Monastery.

PARTICIPATION & ACCOMMODATION

All those who can properly read and recite the Leudunma Prayer are especially welcome to join the Monlam.

Accommodation and meals will be provided for participating members.

As accommodation facilities are simple, everyone is kindly requested to bring their own normal bedding set according to their personal comfort.

COMPULSORY STAY

Participants are requested to stay for the full 10-day Monlam and participate sincerely in the prayers and activities throughout the event.

A Respectful Appeal for the Upcoming PANGLHASOL

PANGLHASOL དཔང་ལྷ་གསོལ།

As we approach the upcoming PANGLHASOL, we humbly wish to share a sincere suggestion with all devotees, community members, organizers, and the younger generation.

PANGLHASOL is not simply a festival for entertainment or enjoyment. It is one of the unique and historically significant traditional observances of the Sikkimese Bhutia and Lepcha communities, with a tradition believed to have continued for more than 800 years. It is therefore our collective responsibility to preserve its sacred meaning, dignity and authenticity for future generations.

1. Please use the correct name: PANGLHASOL

We respectfully request everyone to write and pronounce it as:

PANGLHASOL དཔང་ལྷ་གསོལ། लहसोल

and not “PANGLHABSOL” དཔང་ལྷབ་གསོལ། पाङ ल्हाब्सोल

The classical Tibetan spelling and pronunciation are important because changing the syllables can change the meaning. We should therefore make every effort to preserve the original pronunciation and terminology.

Likewise, Panglhasol should not simply be replaced by “Lhabsol.” The terms are different, and we should respect the original name and pronunciation of our own tradition.

2. Let PANGLHASOL remain rooted in Dharma and tradition.

We sincerely suggest that the main activities of PANGLHASOL should remain focused on its religious rituals, prayers, offerings, traditional ceremonies and Dharma-based practices.

It is understandable that people wish to gather and celebrate together. However, we should be careful not to turn a sacred traditional observance into a general entertainment programme.

Therefore, we respectfully suggest avoiding activities that are unrelated to the sacred purpose of PANGLHASOL, such as:

❌ Football or unrelated sporting programmes
❌ Romantic dances
❌ Romantic songs
❌ Romantic or entertainment-based activities
❌ Other programmes that may diminish the religious and traditional character of the occasion

This is not about opposing entertainment or modern activities in general. It is about knowing where and when they are appropriate.

Preserve What Our Ancestors Passed Down

Our ancestors preserved this tradition for generations. We have received PANGLHASOL as a precious cultural and spiritual inheritance; therefore, we should not be the generation that changes its original character.

Let us celebrate PANGLHASOL with:

🙏 Prayer
🙏 Dharma practice
🙏 Traditional rituals
🙏🏻 History
🙏 Offerings
🙏 Respect for the sacred land and deities
🙏 Unity among Bhutia and Lepcha communities
🙏 Respect for our language, pronunciation and heritage

Tradition survives only when we understand it, respect it and practice it correctly.

Let us work together to preserve the true identity and sacred dignity of:

PANGLHASOL དཔང་ལྷ་གསོལ།

For our ancestors.
For our present generation.
And for the generations yet to come.

Your spiritual guidance has been the cornerstone of our gathering, inspiring everyone to delve deeper into the path of Dharma.
