Benefit of hanging prayer flags, as wind passes over the surface of the flags, which are sensitive to the slightest movement of the wind, the air is purified and sanctified by the mantras which bring happiness, long life, peace and prosperity in the region. In Buddhism, everything in this world is a composition of five elements (sky, air, fire, water and earth), therefore these colours are the symbolic representation of five elements present on flags which gives peace and good wishes. The five colours can also represent the five basic emotions ( joy, fear, sadness, disgust and anger) and the five directions ( east, west , north, south and center).
