Srila Narottam Das Thakur – The Embodiment of Pure Bhakti

Srila Narottam Das Thakur, one of the greatest acharyas in the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition, was a dear associate of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Born in the royal family of Kheturi (present-day Bangladesh), he renounced worldly comforts to dedicate his life to the service of the Lord.

A disciple of Sri Lokanath Goswami, Srila Narottam Das Thakur was an empowered preacher who spread the teachings of Lord Chaitanya far and wide. His deep love for Radha-Krishna and his heartfelt bhajans continue to inspire devotees to this day. His compositions, such as Hari Hari Biphale, Je Anilo Prema Dhana, and Sri Guru Charana Padma, carry the essence of Krishna consciousness and awaken devotion in the hearts of all who hear them.

He played a pivotal role in organizing the first grand Gaura Purnima festival at Kheturi, where the prominent Vaishnavas of the time gathered to glorify Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. His life was a testament to humility, service, and unflinching surrender to the lotus feet of the Lord.

Let us pray at the feet of Srila Narottam Das Thakur to bless us with deep devotion and the desire to serve Sri Guru and Gauranga.
