1924-1988 ~ The great tertön emanation Pegyal Lingpa was a renowned and undisputed revealer of hidden treasure teachings in the last century; he appeared in a timely manner and had mastery over “earth treasure” termas concealed in mountains, rockfaces, and lakes.
Born Serta region of Golok. Amazing omens accompanied his birth. When he was ten, he carried out a Manjushri retreat, during which he was graced with a vision of Nupchen Sangye Yeshe, who conferred on him the title Pema Gyalpo Drodul Lingpa and then dissolved into him. He had many experiences, such as recollections of his former lifetimes as Nupchen Sangye Yeshe and the great tertön Tsasum Lingpa, as well as psychic experiences of present and future events.
When Pegyal Lingpa was engaged in reciting the Seven-Line Prayer, he beheld the presence of Guru Rinpoche, who personally conferred on him, in a pure vision transmission, a guru sadhana based on the Seven-Line Prayer. Pegyal Lingpa offered this guru sadhana to Jamyang Chökyi Lodrö, his lama of karmic connection for lifetimes in the past, for his inspection. Chökyi Lodrö told him, “You are an authentic tertön. Now you should go to Drolma Cliff in Tsawagang and carry out a proper retreat for the accomplishment of your termas. You will receive spiritual accomplishment associated with earth termas.” Acting in accordance with this prophecy, Pegyal Lingpa revealed the profound terma of Pema Gyalpo, and many other powerful terma remaining today as the collection of the Kusum Gongdu.

Prayer for Swift Rebirth of Dodrupchen Rinpoche

Namo guru vajradharāya!

Emanation of Sangye Lingpa, the universal sovereign of the profound treasures
Of the deathless vidyādhara Padmasambhava,
Vital axis of the teachings of the k**a and terma, Lord Dodrupchen,
Tupten Trinlé Pal—‘Glorious Enlightened Action for the Sage’s Teachings’—to you I pray.
Although the pure kāya, the indestructible essence, is all-pervasive,
Clear light, naturally arising, the actual nature of great bliss,
And is beyond the conceptual characteristics of departing and returning,
Still, I pray you may return in an illusory rūpakāya with all the signs and marks of perfection.
From the qualities of scriptural learning and realization, like the maṇḍalas of sun and moon,
Your teaching and practice illuminate the Buddha’s teaching throughout the four continents,
Magnificent and incomparable protector of the teachings and beings,
Glorious guru, may your emanation swiftly reappear!
In the Great Perfection’s clear light of awareness and emptiness,
The four visions, the most secret essence of the paths,
Manifest the fourfold results of spontaneous presence:
Peerless holder of these teachings, may your emanation swiftly reappear!
Resplendent amidst the constellation of the glorious Three Supreme Ones,
Through the power of a hundred thousand positive deeds, tainted and untainted,
May we swiftly have the good fortune to encounter
The moon-like face of this incomparable guru’s emanation!

Tulku Thondup Rinpoche སྤྲུལ་སྐུ་དོན་གྲུབ་, 1939-2023 Tulku Thondup has passed into paranirvana
He was born in Golok, Amdo. He was recognised at the age of four as the reincarnation of a famous scholar of the Dodrupchen monastery, Konme Khenpo. Thondup Rinpoche entered Dodrupchen monastery and studied various Buddhist texts, becoming the monastery’s ritual master.
He moved to India from Tibet in 1958. He came to the United States in 1980 as a visiting scholar at Harvard University. He lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, engaging in translation, research, and writing under the auspices of the Buddhayana Foundation, and he taught programs throughout the world. He is the author of numerous books, including Peaceful Death, Joyful Rebirth and The Healing Power of Mind.

Tulku Thondup was a great master and full of compassion. He will be missed dearly by his many disciples.

Today is the (Mahaparinirvana) Anniversary of His Holiness Kyabje Dudjom Jigdrel Yeshey Dorje Rinpoche (1904–1987)

In the future the final incarnation of Dujom is prophesied as the 1000th buddha of this fortunate aeon, Mopa Thaye.
