Siddh Shri Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir is situated at Faridabad city belongs to Faridabad district in the Indian state of Haryana.
The temple is exactly addressed near water tank of sector 11 at Shri Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir chowk on YMCA road of the city.
It is located about 284 kms south from the state capital city Chandigarh. The river Yamuna forms the eastern district boundary with adjacent state Uttar Pradesh.
The origin of Panchamukhi Hanuman can be traced to the story in Valmiki Ramayan. During Ram-Ravan war in Lanka, Ahiravan (step brother of Ravan) captured sleeping Shri Ram-Lakshman and took them to Patal Lok. Ahiravan was a practitioner of dark arts and black magic. He started preparations for killing the brothers and gifting both to Goddess Kali.
Lord Hanuman also reached the Patal Puri and at the entrance gate of it, he met his son Makardhwaj (who looks like half Makara and half Vanara). As per told by Chandrasena, the life of Ahiravan was hidden in five lamps which were kept in different directions. He could be killed only by extinguishing all five lamps at the same instant.
In order to complete this task, God Hanuman assumes the form of Panchmukhi Hanuman (Varaha, Narasimha, Garuda, Hayagriva with His own face) and extinguishes five lamps simultaneously. Thus, demon Ahiravan is killed and Lord Ram & Lakshman are saved.
