Who is Parashurama?
In Hindu mythology, Parashurama is known as the sixth incarnation of Vishnu. Parashurama is a great hero and sage who came to earth to protect Dharma and punish unrighteousness.
🔱 Birth and Guru
Parashurama's father was Maharishi Jamadagni and his mother was Renuka. According to the Puranas, he worshipped Lord Dattatreya and Lord Shiva as his gurus. He is known as Parashurama because of the Parashu (Kuru sword/lance) weapon he received from Shiva.
⚔️ Protector of Dharma
Parashurama is considered a warrior of righteousness who stood against unrighteousness because he punished the arrogant Kshatriya kings who were against Dharma. This was not against any caste or community; the scriptures explain it as a moral struggle against abuse of power.
📜 In Puranas and Legends
Parashurama's presence can be seen in the Ramayana and Mahabharata. The legends also say that Parashurama, who meets Lord Rama after the incident of Shiva's bow, recognizes Rama's divinity and blesses him.
🧘 Chiranjeevi
Along with Ashwatthama, Hanuman, Vibhishana, etc., Parashurama is believed to be a Chiranjeevi (immortal) — one who stands for the protection of Dharma throughout time.
🌍 Connection with Kerala
It is a mythological belief that the land of Kerala was raised from the ocean by Parashurama. Hence, Kerala is also known as the temple of Parashurama.

He is a divine symbol that combines the strict discipline of Dharma, zero tolerance for unrighteousness, and self-control.
