🌕 Holy Māgha Puṇṇamī – Full Moon Uposatha Day
We will be observing the sacred Māgha Puṇṇamī Uposatha Day, commemorating the most auspicious events in the Buddha Sāsana:
• The first preaching of the *Ovāda Pāṭimokkha (Vinaya)* by the Blessed One to an extraordinary gathering of 1,250 Arahant monks, who assembled spontaneously without prior invitation, at Veḷuvana Monastery.
• The Blessed One’s *announcement* of His forthcoming *Mahāparinibbāna*, declaring that He would attain final Nibbāna after three months.
• The ordination and declaration of the *Aggasāvakās* — Ven. Sāriputta Mahāthera and Ven. Mahāmoggallāna Mahāthera — as the Chief Disciple, foremost in wisdom, and Mahāthera — as the Chief Disciple, foremost in supernormal powers.
