THE SHAME OF ADAM⦠AND THE HOPE OF THE CROSS
This sculpture reminds me of the tragic fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden. The two apples symbolize Adam and Eveās disobedience when they ate the forbidden fruit that God had commanded them not to eat.
From that moment, sin entered the world, and with sin came shame, guilt, death, and separation from God. Every person born into this world is born with a sinful nature. We are sinners by birth and by choice. Our thoughts, words, attitudes, and actions all testify that we have fallen short of the glory of God.
Because God is perfectly holy and righteous, sinful man cannot stand in His presence. Sin separates us from God and leaves us under His righteous judgment. No one can save themselves.
No amount of good works can erase your sins.
No river or ocean can wash away your guilt.
No amount of wealth can purchase forgiveness.
No religion, ritual, or human effort can make you holy before God.
Without Christ, mankind is completely hopeless.
But Godā¦
āBut God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved usā¦ā (Ephesians 2:4)
Because of His great love, God made a way for sinners to be forgiven and reconciled to Himself.
The Bible declares, āGod was manifest in the fleshā (1 Timothy 3:16). The eternal Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, came into this world, lived a perfect and sinless life, and willingly took our sins upon Himself.
Jesus Christ died on the cross, shedding His precious blood to pay the penalty for your sins and mine. His blood is the only payment God accepts for the forgiveness of sins.
He was buried, and on the third day He rose again in victory over sin, death, and the grave.
Because Jesus lives, you no longer have to hide in shame like Adam.
You no longer have to run from God.
You no longer have to remain separated from Him.
Come to God by faith. Turn from trusting in yourself, your religion, or your good works, and place your complete trust in the Lord Jesus Christ alone.
Believe that He died for your sins, was buried, and rose again the third day.
The Bible promises that if you receive Jesus Christ by faith, your sins will be forgiven, you will become a child of God, your name will be written in the Lambās Book of Life, and you will have the gift of everlasting life.
Today is the day of salvation.
If you are reading this and you are not certain that your sins are forgiven or that Heaven is your eternal home, I urge youādo not wait until tomorrow.
Come to Christ today. Come now.
āBelieve on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.ā ā Acts 16:31 (KJV)
