With great joy and devotion, Sadhanarama Foundation is pleased to announce the Kathina Cīvara Dāna Programme 2026 (2570 B.E.) in Arunachal Pradesh.

The Kathina season is a precious opportunity to cultivate dāna (generosity), sīla (virtue), and mettā (loving-kindness) through the offering of Kathina robes and other requisites to the Saṅgha.

# # Buddhism in the Age of AI 🤖☸️

South Korea recently introduced a humanoid robot monk named “Gabi” at Seoul’s Jogyesa Temple ahead of Buddha’s Birthday celebrations. The robot wore Buddhist robes, bowed in prayer, received prayer beads, and participated in a symbolic initiation ceremony designed to explore the relationship between spirituality and modern technology.

This development opens an important conversation for Buddhism in the 21st century.

❓Can artificial intelligence truly understand suffering, compassion, mindfulness, and wisdom?
❓Can spiritual realization be programmed into a machine?
❓Will AI help preserve and spread the Dhamma, or slowly distance humanity from authentic spiritual practice and human connection?
❓Can a machine imitate monastic life — yet ever realize the Dhamma through direct experience?

Buddhism has always adapted to changing times — from oral traditions and manuscripts to printing, broadcasting, and digital platforms. Technology can indeed serve as a powerful tool to preserve scriptures, translate teachings, and make the Dhamma accessible to the world.

Yet Buddhism is not merely ritual, appearance, or information.
The path taught by the Buddha is rooted in morality, mindfulness, compassion, meditation, and inner transformation.

Perhaps the deeper question is not whether robots can become monks, but whether humanity, in this AI-driven age, is gradually losing the very qualities that the Buddha encouraged us to cultivate.

Technology may spread the Dhamma.
But can it walk the Noble Eightfold Path?

Morning Piṇḍacāra in Phuket, Thailand by the Bhikkhu Sangha of Sadhanarama Bana Vihara 🙏

At dawn, the Bhikkhu Sangha mindfully walked through the streets, receiving alms in the spirit of humility and simplicity. This sacred practice of Piṇḍacāra strengthens the bond between the Sangha and the lay community, rooted in generosity (Dāna) and faith.
