We were deeply happy to gather in the presence of Rinpoche during the very auspicious occasion of Vesak / Buddha Purnima 🌕

In the morning, Rinpoche offered teachings for this precious day, and in the evening we came together for Guru Puja with Tsog followed by a beautiful light offering ✨

We feel very fortunate that Rinpoche was here with us during this special time, and rejoice for all the students who could receive these teachings and blessings together 💝

A special thank you as well to the wonderfully talented students who offered such a heartfelt closing evening — with harmonium and guitar, chanting of Om Mani Padme Hum, and a beautiful Sufi dance performance 🌷

This course is very close to our hearts because many Indian students deeply wish to study and reflect on the teachings, but often cannot afford the travel and course expenses to come to Dharamsala.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will attend a Long Life Prayer offered to him by Central Dokham Chushi Gangdrug and Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Association in the morning at the Main Tibetan Temple.

You don’t need to register for this event.

As we will all attend this puja at the Main Tibetan temple in McleodGanj, please be aware that there will be no drop-in morning meditation up here on the hill at Tush*ta! Everyone is welcome to do their own morning meditation at the temple!

𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙨:
𝙆𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙧 𝙎𝙖𝙭𝙚𝙣𝙖 was born to an English mother and an Indian father and raised in both Delhi and London, attending Oxford University.

He met his main teachers Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche in 1979 and has been living and working in FPMT Centres almost ever since, including helping to establish Root Institute and serving as its Director for many years, before being ordained as a monk in 2002. He is currently the Spiritual Programme Coordinator at Tush*ta Delhi.

Kabir has been teaching Buddhism to Westerners and Indians in India and Nepal since 1988 and presents the Dharma in an appropriately humorous and meaningful way for modern students.

𝙆𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙝 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙧𝙖 𝘽𝙖𝙪𝙙𝙙𝙝𝙖 is the Hindi translator for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and has the privilege of working directly with His Holiness regularly.

In 2025, he completed his Rimé Geshe (PhD) degree from the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Buddhist Studies at the University of Delhi.

His life is wholly dedicated to the revival of Buddhism in India and, more broadly, to the reform of educational systems around the world. In his view, modern education often emphasizes material knowledge while neglecting essential human values such as compassion, kindness, and inner development—principles that should be cultivated alongside intellectual learning. This vision is deeply inspired by the guidance and teachings of 14th Dalai Lama.

Hello, I'm Kabir Saxena and I'm on the board of Tush*ta Center Dharamsala. I have a request for you all. As you know, Buddhism spread to Tibet and then came back in a very powerful way with his holiness of the Lama in 1959 and before that there had also been a movement in India with Baba Saheb Ambedkar in the mid-50s and there are many people who consider themselves Buddhists in India. However, they lack a Buddhist education. Many of them, especially those from farmer families, from very small towns or villages never have a chance to hear the dharma transmitted in a clear, coherent, reliable manner. Now, Tush*ta has been running courses in Hindi since 2023 and this year we hope to on our third course. However, most of these Indian students who are very eager to hear more about the Dharma do not have the financial resources to be able to come and take a 10-day course at Dharamsala. So, my request is if you feel it in your heart to be able to contribute a little bit to this cause which was wanted also by Lama Zopa Rinpoche and Lama Yeshe, our kind founders. Then if you could help us, it would be so wonderful. People benefited a great deal from the first course that we held in 2023 and we're hoping to repeat that this year.
