NAVAGRAHA HOMAM 4th Jan 2026
Event Details: Navagraha Homam
Date: 4th Jan 2026
Time: 9:20 AM
The Navagraha Homam is a significant Vedic ritual performed to appease the nine celestial deities (planets) in Hindu astrology: Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu. The primary goal is to mitigate the negative (malefic) effects of unfavorable planetary positions in a person's birth chart (horoscope) and enhance positive influences for overall well-being.
Purpose and Benefits:
The homam (fire ritual) is rooted in the belief that planetary alignments heavily influence human destiny, affecting aspects such as health, career, relationships, and financial stability. By invoking the planets and offering specific oblations into the sacred fire, devotees seek to balance these cosmic energies.
Key benefits include:
+ Mitigating 'Doshas': The ritual serves as a powerful remedy for various astrological flaws or "doshas" (afflictions) in the horoscope, which are believed to cause life's challenges and obstacles.
+ Attracting positive energy: It aims to remove misfortune and bad luck, attracting positive energy, peace of mind, and general prosperity.
+ Addressing specific issues: It is often performed to resolve specific problems such as delays in marriage, health ailments, financial difficulties, and career stagnation.
+ Overall well-being: The ultimate goal is to achieve Ayushya (long life), Arogya (health), Aishvarya (wealth), and Saukhya (happiness), thereby ensuring success in all endeavors.
Procedure:
The ritual is typically conducted by experienced priests well-versed in Vedic scriptures. The main steps generally involve:
1. Ganesha puja: The ceremony begins with prayers to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, to ensure the ritual's smooth ex*****on.
2. Invocation: The presence of each of the nine planets is invoked using their specific mantras.
3. Fire offerings: Offerings, often including specific food grains associated with each planet, are made into the sacred fire pit (Homa Kund).
4. Prayers and blessings: The ritual concludes with prayers to the deities to receive their blessings and neutralize negative influences.
The Navagraha Homam does not change one's destiny but helps in navigating challenging planetary periods with greater ease and resilience.
For those unable to perform the complex ritual privately, temples offer an authentic and accessible way to receive the full blessings of the nine celestial deities (planets).
This function is a wonderful opportunity to come together in worship, prayer, and fellowship, and to seek divine blessings as a community.
