About Christian Persecution in Nigeria
Sadly, Nigeria has become known as the world’s center of Christian martyrs. In any given year, the number of Christians killed by extremist groups is rarely less than 4,000—often more than in the rest of the world combined.

Violence against the Nigerian Christian population is significantly localized in the north, where twelve Muslim-majority states declared sharia law in 1999, resulting in huge numbers of Christians experiencing daily discrimination. But it was the rise of an extremist movement called Boko Haram, which first started its murderous attacks in 2009, that resulted in Christians experiencing unprecedented violence.

According to an April 2023 report by the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, at least 52,250 persecuted Christians have been killed in the past fourteen years, simply for the crime of being Christian. In the past five years, violence has spread southwards to the middle belt of Nigeria, with radicalized Fulani herdsmen killing Christians to steal their land.

Boko Haram has now been joined by another extremist group operative in the area, called the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), and both seek the eradication of Christianity from the northern states.

The violence has resulted in refugees now numbering over four million, mostly Christian farmers. The government of Nigeria has proved unwilling to condemn the levels of violence, which some call genocidal, or inept in its attempts to engage and neutralize extremist movements.

Rising Death Toll of Christians in Nigeria
Death Toll: The death toll among Christians killed in Nigeria has been staggering. With more than 50,000 Christians killed, Central Nigeria has seen an increase in attacks, spreading beyond the northern regions. The Christian community faces relentless violence from extremist groups that target them for their faith. The central government’s failure to counteract this violence continues to fuel the crisis.

Please Pray for them🙏🤲🤲

27 Christians Buried Following Fulani Militia Attacks in Nigeria’s Plateau State

7/28/2025 Nigeria (International Christian Concern) — The bodies of 27 people killed during an overnight assault on a Christian farming community in central Nigeria’s Plateau state were laid to rest on July 25 during a mass burial attended by thousands of mourners. The victims, among them women and children, were buried in shallow graves behind the local church in the village of Bindi in the Tahoss district.

The attack occurred on July 15, when gunmen stormed the village in the early hours of the morning. Survivors identified the attackers as Fulani militias, a group often blamed for repeated raids on Christian communities across Nigeria’s Middle Belt. The dead had been taken to the Jos University Teaching Hospital mortuary after the attack and were transported back to Bindi for burial three days
later.

Sadly, Nigeria has become known as the world’s center of Christian martyrs. In any given year, the number of Christians killed by extremist groups is rarely less than 4,000—often more than in the rest of the world combined.

please Keep Remember On your Prayers🙏🤲

Mourners gathered in silence, many weeping as they filed past the rows of graves. Wooden crosses, some with names written in chalk, marked the burial site. Security personnel were visible in the area during the ceremony, but several residents questioned their presence, saying it was too late to prevent the violence.

CONDEMNATION OF INHUMAN ATTACK ON DALIT CHRISTIANS ON THE NIGHT OF JUNE 22, 2025 IN NEPANAGAR VILLAGE, BURHANPUR DISTRICT MADHYA PRADESH- APPEAL FOR JUSTICE

We are deeply shocked, heartbroken, and outraged by the horrifying and inhumane incident that occurred on the night of June 22, 2025, in Nepa Nagar village, Burhanpur district, Madhya Pradesh. According to verified reports and viral video evidence, a mob of approximately 150 individuals forcibly entered the residence of a Christian pastor and subjected four Dalit Christians to brutal physical assault, humiliation, and public degradation. They were stripped, paraded semi-naked, verbally abused, and forced to bow before a Hindu deity under coercion — all on the false accusation of religious conversion.

This barbaric act not only violates the core values of humanity and dignity but also constitutes a gross infringement of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees freedom of religion, the right to equality, and the right to life and personal liberty under Articles 25, 14, and 21 respectively.

Even more disturbing are credible accounts that local police officers were either passive bystanders or complicit actors during the public parading of the victims. This failure of law enforcement, and alleged support to vigilantes, has deeply eroded the community’s faith in the rule of law and justice.

Indian Christian Day, also known as Yeshu Bhakti Divas, is celebrated annually on July 3rd to commemorate the arrival of Christianity in India through St. Thomas the Apostle in 52 AD and his subsequent martyrdom in Chennai in 72 AD. This day serves as a time for Indian Christians to celebrate their identity within the Indian cultural heritage and to unite with others who wish to join in the celebration, regardless of background.
